Anyone with Twitter, Facebook or Google accounts should advertise this place everyday. All you need to do is recommend the main page at ripcitytwo.com and tweet it, Facebook and Google it. When we have game threads, go into the thread on game day and post a recommendation for that thread. The recommendations located at the very bottom of the thread page. When we have an over/under thread, post a recommendation to vote there. When we have the "forensic fan" segment, advertise that page. The key is to always talk publicly and you can drive more traffic to the page. It may not be a huge difference at first, but if it's constantly talked about, people start to notice.
I moved from Portland to Beautiful Central Oregon specifically to escape traffic. Why on earth would we want "more traffic" here on our board? Especially a bunch of brainless twitterheads? Nothing like intentionally watering down the virtual gene pool to kill a forum.
So guys are silly... I guess you don't see the bigger picture with the incentives for the forum. I won't say anything more about it. Didn't realize this forum are filled with hipsters.
Honestly if people want to post on a Blazers forum they will find it. It is likely that the people who find it in that manner will be respectful of the forum and its users. It's not that I don't want new people posting here, it's just that the method you are going about opens the floodgates for trolls.
That's like opening a fine dining Resturant in the middle of know where and say "We are good enough to get people to come find us on their own". That business will fail in less than 2 years
Not if it already has an established loyal return customer base in said middle of no where. Are you saying you feel like the forum is on the decline?
Not hipsters, oldsters. I didn't care for any of the "benefits" when the site went legit. Like what? Them asking posters to use their free time for free to create free content, and no longer being able to quote articles? Those benefits? Fuck putting extra effort into this. What am I getting out of it other than a longer Ignore list?
nothing wrong with creating awareness and bringing in new blood, so long as the moderators have their fingers hovering over the ban button
Exactly this. The mods can clean house just as easily as they come in. The fact that people feel threatened that this place would be like o-live is ridiculous. I'm sure there are so many savvy fans that have no idea this place even exists, even being on the blazer page.
No, allowing our posters to sit on press row, get content and shit like that. It's not our fault that the mods are hoarding all the perks!
This place is a community. A place where I have gotten to know other Blazer fans and I, for the most part, share two common goals with them; 1) to support our Blazers, and 2) to have a fun and respectful place to banter, argue and act like fanatics. Increasing the draw via Facebook and stuff like that might bring in more people that share both goals, but it will also bring in people who don't give a crap about #2. Over time, most of the people who have really tried to inflame and drive wedges into this community have gone by the wayside and I'm not looking forward to their doppelgängers returning en mass and ruining this board. I like this place right now, but I've stopped posting a couple times in the past because I just couldn't stand the trolling. I don't that to return. I will be nice to new posters and hope we draw a special brew of fans, but I'm just not looking forward to increasing that trickle to an uncontrollable flood. Also, the more new posters are here to more watered down threads will become of the few posters I look forward to reading. If I can expect 20% of current posts to be high caliber, and then we increase the posters by a bunch, the percentage will drop precipitously till it just doesn't seem worth reading. Quality over quantity.
What Further said. Mags, you're still a noob in this group (some of us have been posting in this group for 20 years, going back to the BLT!)
