Give Stotts at least 10 games before you can claim long term. I consider this game a fluke or miracle.

This game was neither but it also wasn't indicative of us being the greatest team blah blah blah. This game showed that we are the most dangerous team in the league for the Lakers. The Lakers do not have the back court to take advantage of our back courts inability to defend... then we have two forwards that are athletic enough to bother/slow down both LeBron and AD. Finally and this is nothing new, we have one of the most potent offenses in the league, the only thing that is new is that it seems to be more diverse this season but we'll have to wait and see about if that holds up.

The horrible thing is a bunch of other teams can derail us because while you can cover up one defensive liability in the back court you can't play both Dame and CJ the minutes Stotts does and cover up for both of their glaring defensive weaknesses against a team with a well rounded offense. The Lakers just happen to be a two man offense that we should be able to beat most of the time we play them. Other teams should be harder to get by but I hope I'm wrong. I also hope (in vain) that Stotts will see when we need to be a defense first team and completely stagger Dame's and CJ's minutes, only having one serious defensive liability on the court at a time.

With three games into the season, it is too early for Stotts to ascertain if our defense is a key element in the Blazers status in the league. Like I said, that game was a fluke or miracle.

We should be peaking about playoff time.....if our bench continues like this we're a scary team!

I can tell you that game wasn't a miracle or a fluke. That's what happens when a team has two guys that can slow down LeBron and AD while still having a ton of offensive firepower. There was a reason that so many analysts thought we were the greatest threat to the Lakers before Ariza opted out... well now we have two, younger, faster Arizas. The win wasn't fluky in the least bit.

I guess we'll look back on this after what will likely be four regular season games against the Lakers this season and see if it was a fluke. I'm telling you we are Lakers killers but have a lot of problems with other teams. I know it's a nuanced idea but if healthy we will beat the best team in the league more often than we won't but we probably are not a top 5 team in the league. I might be wrong about the second part... maybe we're a lot better than I think but we are built to beat the Lakers.
