That was not a good way to lose the game like they did in the 8th inning. It happened so quickly. It was close all game and then we took the lead in the 7th. I was waiting to celebrate. I feel lost, confused, defeated. This will be the hardest story to write of the series. Painful. A nightmare. Just painful.

The New York Yankees lost to the Boston Red Sox by a score of 4-3. CC Sabathia started and got the loss.

At the start of the game, I thought the Yankees were in trouble after I saw David Ortiz hit a home run. He just hits well against the Yankees. He’s our number one nemesis. He’ll probably be called off the bench when he’s 50 and hit a home run off of us. That’s how much he owns the Yankees.

CC settled down however and pitched great. He made one mistake at the beginning of the game with a fastball right down the middle of the plate to Ortiz in which Ortiz hit a home run. Sabathia was pitching to the right handed batters away with his change up and fastball and to the inside corners to the left-handed batters all game and it worked. All of his pitches were working. His 4-Seam fastball, his change up, his curveball and his slider.

He had great velocity, great location and was completely unpredictable. He did exactly what the Yankees needed him to do and that was give them length and pitch a great game.

Then came the eighth inning. He pitched one batter too long in my view. After he hung a change up to Nick Green and Green singled, Dustin Pedroia worked him for a 10 pitch at bat and walked. I feel this took all the life out of CC even though CC said he still felt fine after that at bat. He was at 118 pitches at that point. Then he hung a slider to J.D. Drew and the game was 3-2 Yankees but the writing was on the wall. It was obvious Sabathia didn’t have any gas left in the tank and the Yankees had a good chance of losing. They did.

Alfredo Aceves came in the game in a tough spot. He let two of CC’s runs in. It’s hard to get three outs with two men on with no outs. Aceves is more of a long reliever, not a guy who can get out of big jams against the big bad hitting Red Sox.

The Yankees failed again with RISP. It haunted them all series and it was compounded by the base running errors by Nick Swisher. He seems to be making bone headed plays as of late. He gets doubled off of second base by Jason Bay because he ran too far off of second. That was a rally killer. It did look like Jason Bay faked Swisher out like he wasn’t going to catch the ball so you can also say it was a good play by Bay. The toughest thing to swallow is that Jeter would of been up next with a chance at an RBI situation.

When you play the Boston Red Sox, you can’t make any mistakes. These aren’t the Tampa Rays the Yankees are playing. The Rays have a terrible bull pen. The Red Sox don’t. The Red Sox also know how to win.

    Player of the Game
: Dustin Pedroia. He tired CC out with his 10 pitch at bat in the 10th and helped the Red Sox win. He showed why he is an mvp.

At least we get to have some fun with the Mets coming to town.

2 games back with 100 left to play. This doesn't mean much in the big picture.
