Third is what we call high-energy people,” Frank said on a conference call. “I think Keyon qualifies under all of those characteristics. He’s a guy who can play both guard positions, he’s a live wire. He’s very, very eager; he’s excited. I think he’s a great compliment and a great fit for our team and the direction we’re headed.”</div>
I was told that this has been his off-season mantra, in meetings with the press and sales reps: "character, commitment and energy" And if you read what Thorn has said about Dooling (and Carroll) and what Frank has said about Dooling, you get a sense of how they felt about Williams.
What he is saying is that last year he had a lot of laid back guys and guys with their own agendas and this year he might like to have some guys who play like they want to win the games.

This quote from Kerber's blog says it all: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"I have a healthy respect for his game. I love, we love, guys that have energy, passion and love to play. You can see it,” Frank said. “The same way he plays is the same disposition (he shows) as a person. He's got a lot of energy to him. He's very bubbly."</div> Keyon is the anti-Marcus.
Thought this was interesting. From the same Kerber blog: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Dooling will wear uniform No. 55 by the way. He wanted No. 5, it’s his favorite number. But 5 is still sort of affiliated with another guy.</div>

Yeah, Net Income is correct - character was stressed from Day 1 this offseason. I guarantee you that Dooling was on their radar immediately as the free agent signing period started - Frank wanted this guy first. Looking back (although it is a moot point), it is definitely why the Nets would've taken Rose over Beasley. I'm really happy with this summer - the only thing I don't like so far is Najera's 3rd and 4th year.

Was a proud time in franchise history with back-to-back Eastern Conference Championships.

In terms of character and teamwork, think it of this way. Last year smelled like South Kearny industrial area, this year is going to smell like open space in Hunterdon County.

Everything Thorn has said about Beasley indicates that he really liked him as a prospect.
well frank cant have any excuses this year... cuz this is his "team"; he picked out the players whether it be FA or draft picks... and got rid of the ones he didnt want... i hope he has this team prepared everynite... cuz last season there were times i felt the team didnt kno what to do against the zone...

But it is nice to see that Thorn & Kiki are listening to their head coach and they all have a plan that they worked out together.

Good thing Vince Carter has A LOT of CHARACTER...one of the NBA's better citizens. Low on the drama, high on the community service. Commitment? Energy? Batting .333 is pretty good in my book...

He's already a stand up character guy, he'll be more competitive with Kidd gone and fresh, young faces, and he'll have more "energy" now with ankle injury past him... so yeah, I think he fits with Frank's philosophy. Frank loves Vince.
