WARNING! If you don't like hypothetical trade threads, then good for you and get out of this one.

With Outlaw going down to injury we may see KP's hand forced in a consolidation trade. This one works on ESPN trade checker which is broken right now in so far as you can't display trades to other people. Try it yourself, it works.

    Portland Trail Blazers

    Out:

    Steve Blake
    Travis Outlaw
    Rudy Fernandez
    Jerryd Bayless
    Martell Webster

    In:

    Mike Conley Jr.
    Darrell Arthur
    Marko Jaric
    Shane Battier

    Houston:

    Out:

    Shane Battier

    In:

    H. Haddadi
    Martell Webster

    Memphis:

    In:

    Steve Blake
    Travis Outlaw
    Rudy Fernandez
    Jerryd Bayless

    Out:

    Mike Conley Jr.
    Darrell Arthur
    Marko Jaric
    H. Haddadi

    New Depth chart for Portland:

    PG Miller/Conley
    SG Roy/Webster/Battier/Jaric
    SF Battier/Roy/Cunningham/Jaric
    PF LMA/Arthur/Howard
    C Oden/Przybilla

That looks pretty solid to me. With Outlaw’s injury and our depth issues it might be time to pull the trigger. In my opinion this solves all of our problems at once. Haddadi is a decent backup to Oden with a little upside remaining. Arthur is a decent young big to backup Aldridge. Conley is our starting PG of the future. Battier holds down the fort until Batum is up and ready and can slowly move into a key reserve position.

This solves all of our problems and resolves playing time and positional issues. I think it makes sense for all teams as well. Memphis makes out ahead in talent. Memphis would then be able to slide Mayo over to PG as he professes he wants to have a shot at and can have the Spanish Duo in Gasol and Fernandez. They also have a promising PG/SG in Bayless to provide scoring off the bench. Finally, Memphis shed’s salary from Jaric and picks up two expirings who are serviceable in Outlaw and Blake. They may opt to resign Outlaw in the off season if he comes back, if not he’s an expiring.

For Houston they get a decent Center in Haddadi and a cheap defensive SF in Webster to replace Battier and compete with Budinger for starting SF. Haddadi makes up for Yao a bit, at least on the defensive and rebounding end. If Yao comes back they have a serviceable backup in Haddadi who has a surprising 19.1 PER rating. I think Houston has to consider it. Chuck Hayes is an amazing defender, but he isn't a real center and Adelman must know that. Haddadi has shown some flashes and might really give Houston a boost. I think this is a reasonable trade and might require a bit more sugar for Houston (picks, Cash, the rights to Euro's like Claver or Kopponen, or maybe another young player from Memphis.)

Well what do you guys think?

See, I don't think I'm in favor of doing any kind of trade that moves half the team off the roster. It would be too much of a change. We wouldn't regain any kind of chemistry until after the all-star break, in all likelihood.

I would like to see us make a move though. Maybe trade Blake/Outlaw/filler for another small forward or a backup four.

    PS: You forgot Batum. ;)

Oh I didn't forget him. I was talking about our lineup in regards to currently healthy and able to play. I left off Pendergraph and Mills for the same reason. He takes over for Battier next year while being allowed to recover from his injury coming off the bench late this year. Battier would become a key reserve next season with Batum starting.

Not a fan of Conley at all. I think I actually prefer Bayless over him.

I'm a huge fan of Battier, and I think that type of player is exactly what we need. Him, Miller and Juwan Howard would be a great veteran trio to help us with a run this year.

I actually think Memphis might get the best part of this trade. Houston probably gets the worst.

You can switch Rudy and Webster giving Houston Rudy and Memphis Webster. Still works on Trade Machine.

Oh and I'm a HUGE Conley fan. He is wasting away in Memphis, he has all the tools to be perfect for this team. He has the footspeed to stay in front of quick guards and also can get to the rim. He has passing chemistry with Oden like no one in the league (from years of playing together). He can hit the three ball and would probably be ok being a critical role player rather then a star. Not sure Bayless feels the same way and I'm not sure about Bayless' 3 ball. I still think Bayless can be the answer, but Conley I'm sure of.

we need a 3rd scorer.... at SF badly if we wanna be elite. As much as i hate outlaw... we will miss his scoring ... although he gives up just as many on defense so maybe not lol.

    but we need a sf

No thank you, mainly due to Jaric's lengthy and spendy contract, that guy should not be a Blazer at all costs.

But on second thought having Adriana Lima at Home Games would definitely justify his stupid contract some what. :lovemenot:

Oh, I definitely didn't forget that. In fact that's my entire master plan get her to Portland where I can seduce and marry her after she drops Jaric. You've revealed my plan, you must die!

Gotta give something to get something. Taking on Jaric would be critical to get Memphis to play ball. Look I net us Battier AND Conley without giving up any true starters (Blake is an accident and more then a little bit of the inspiration for this trade) or even Joel! This would fill our holes now, and long term.

I'm not tryin to be an asshole but why would you even waste your time thinking of something like this? We're NOT going to make an in season trade unless it is absolutely impossible to turn down. The only way we make a trade is if it makes us an automatic championship contender. I don't understand why people spend their time matching numbers and all of that for some retarded fantasy world trade that won't ever happen...That's why I play NBA2k

For some people it's just fun to make up trade ideas and post them.

Oh... and we're trading for Chris Paul. It's going to happen! :NOTMARIS:

I really don't see us trading with Memphis, unless they give us something. I'm not sure people really understand the anger KP and the entire organization has towards the Memphis franchise.

I don't want this to turn in to a "deal coming soon" moment, but I had a chance to talk with someone in the Memphis organization who told me Portland wants nothing to do with Memphis in trade talks.

Apparently the talks last season of Conley for Travis weren't too far off, but Memphis wanted another piece, and KP hung the phone up.

Interesting. I'm not sure if I agree with that stance from a business perspective, but considering the way that the Grizz used the Miles situation to fuck us (when it's not even like they were major players in free agency anyway) I guess I can understand KPs reticence to deal with Heisley and Wallace.

I'm still intrigued by Conley, but it seems like he's regressed a little this season ... then again with Mayo and Gay playing tug of war over the ball I'm guessing he's handling the ball less and getting fewer opportunities to actually play point ... now with the addition of Tinsley ... what a fucking mess.

Reading comprehension not your strong suit eh? I know you tried not to be, but despite your best efforts you succeeded in being an A-hole by not reading the BOLD UNDERLINED ITALICIZED FIRST SENTENCE.

So please thanks for the insults, but please STFU and go to another thread.

I actually thought everyone was underrating the Rockets (and overrating the Hornets) in their season previews just because of how each performed in the playoffs. BUT, I thought if the Rockets DID struggle, then they might trade Battier, because he's getting on, and he's of most value to contenders. Then, damnit, they proved they WERE legit, so I thought there's no way they'd trade their "No Stats All-Star" (TM). But then, this. Maybe they can be persuaded that they've got Battier's replacement in the guy nobody (me especially) wanted in the draft.

So, long story short, I'd want to get Battier straight up. I'd offer them essentially what they turned down before last year's draft: Webster and Bayless. That would also clear a roster spot to sign a backup big (Pops?)

Now, I doubt many Portland fans would be happy to give up Bayless, and it would be nice to get Kyle Lowry in return, but I doubt the Rockets consider anything less.
