Okay, so the Hawks just re-signed Kent Bazemore for the same money we threw at Turner, and people on the Twitters have decided that that means they must lose Horford (what with them also blowing big bucks on Dwight Howard). BUT, not so fast:

A quick glance at their roster shows that their two biggest contracts are:
    Millsap ($20M)
    Tiago Splitter ($9M)

I doubt they'd unload Millsap, but I'm sure they'd be happy to unload Splitter. Any interest? He's not much of shot blocker. Is he a better shooter than Plumlee? Maybe he could be healthy this year? Maybe they'd give us picks as well?

BTW, the Turner deal is not yet official, right. Can we do our maneuvering to land Millsap with a S&T or something and then get ET?

That wouldn't clear out any space. You'd have to trade people like Ed Davis and Aminu. And if there's somebody who has cap room to absorb them, why wouldn't THAT team just take Millsap?

if we could provide lower cost backups like Plums and Aminu if we took Splitter as well that could work

Renouncing Hark and Meyers clears about 15 mil in capholds, making our total capspace 24+ 15 or 39 mil. Starting salary for ET is 16 mil, meaning we have 23 mil left to absorb Millsap and his 19 mil in exchange for Noah and his cheap contract.

Then ship out Plums in a S&T for Gasol and absorb his new deal.

Need to work out the right order for this to make it all work but in aggregate, I think it's doable

Somebody work out how we can get Millsap. Then we'll all be happy. [Edit: I see this has happened in the previous post. Too good to be true?]

How old is Millsap now? When was it that we tried to sign him away from Utah again?

Depends on how much cap they need, Milsap makes about 20 mil next 2 yrs, we can send them Davis or Aminu so they then have a backup for Horford, that save them close to 13 mil per

Ya but we'd also need to renounce one of our FAs to do that. I'd exchange Aminu and Meyers for Millsap in a second. Now he is a true star complementary player

If our starting unit next season was

    Dame
    CJ
    Turner
    Millsap
    Gasoline

I would feel pretty damn good. We would go from 2/5 starters who can score to 5/5 starters who can score

They're kinda stuck in a treadmill too. Dwight could work out big. It's a risk but they're not good enough to contend as is.
