Tiago Splitters euroleauge team plays on "NBA TV", today for the Euroleague championship at 1:30pm est. I've seen this game already and while he looked just average (he has 3 all league players on his team..Scola(S.A spurs),Vujiaic, Macijauskas)he did show at 19 that he was ready to make a off the bench contribution. This dude is about 1 year away from being a starter. Before naysayers post with their negative comments about how he wouldn't fit as a Laker, watch and understand that this "TAU" team is built like this years Laker team.
I think Tiago Splitter is decent, watching him reminds me of Chris Mihm. I'm 50/50 on the Lakers drafting him, because they are going to have to wait a few years before he's a solid contributor in the league. There are no guarantees either, and I'd also hate to see the Lakers get him into training camp late because of his contract situation with TAU. Speaking of Milos Vujanic, when is he going to get a shot with the Knicks. He's got a nice 'throwback' game, and he's got great size at 6'5.

They figured they wouldn't really need him with Marbury and Frank Williams there. But I think Vujanic decided to stay overseas because they drafted him a long time ago and we still haven't gotten word from this guy.
I don't want Splitter. I really don't think he will do anything in the league. I'm not sold on him. I think there is much better talent that will be available when we go to draft.

I pretty much agree with Mr. Bryant's assessment of Splitter's play in that game. He made some good defensive adjustments, and was generally in the right place at the right time, but he was still overmatched in the end and couldn't keep his fouls down. His team was the underdog by far compared to Maccabi, so it was a valiant effort. As far as his potential, I still think he's a solid pick for that spot, although I'm not sure if he really fits into the Laker's needs. I don't see him being a bust like Kobe 8 Ball does, but he's not going to contribute for at least two years, and there are players that can do more now and possibly succeed just as well in the long term, though maybe not at the big man spots.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MR BRYANT:</div><div class="quote_post">Did you even watch?</div> Just because he makes noise over in a European league doesn't mean he will do anything over here. If Phil Jackson is going to come back and coach, he doesn't play rookies much, we all know that. Why would he play Tiago? An undeveloped, foreign rookie. Not only will he have to adapt to the game, but to the culture also, I really don't think Phil would like that...
