<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Tim Duncan needs a makeover. Braid his hair. Tattoo his arms. Give him a crossover dribble and some altitude. Have Gary Payton tutor him in a four-lettered course in trash talking.

Robert Horry thinks Duncan needs all of this. And more.

"The first game of the regular season, have him smack someone," Horry said. "Then he'll become hard. An outlaw.

"He's already got the silver and black on. We just need to make him mean."

Horry laughed at his own idea. He can't turn on the TV these days without LeBron James trying to sell him Sprite and a pair of Nikes, and he understands why.

James dunks and smiles and is immensely talented and fresh, all of which is usually enough to get the ad agencies on Madison Avenue to open their doors. This is also why Horry expects the media covering the NBA Finals to write their "LeBron Leap" or "Global Icon" stories, look over at Duncan, scribble the word "underappreciated" in their notepads, yawn, then go back to hyping James.

Consistency might earn you the clever nickname "Groundhog Day" from Charles Barkley. It does not, however, make your No. 21 jersey fly off the NBA Store's racks in Manhattan.

James has his Nike-made "We are all Witnesses" campaign. If Adidas gave Duncan his own slogan, it would likely be, "You Again?" </div>

lol, I was just thinking that "us" (meaning us at JBB) need to give Timmy a better nickname...seriously think about the greats, they all had "cool" nicknames

    "The Big O"
    "Dr. J"
    Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlin
    "The Iceman"
    Earvin"Magic" Johnson
    "Big Game" James Worthy
    "The Chief"
    "Zeke"
    "The Worm"
    "The Glove"
    "Rain Man"
    "Air" Jordan
    Clyde "The Glide" Drexler
    Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon
    "Sir Charles" Barkley
    "The Mailman"
"Shaq", "The Diesel", "The Big Aristotle"
    "The Admiral"
    "Flash"
    "The Black Mamba"
    "King James"
    "A.I"
    "Melo"
    "Tmac"
    "K.G."

Kareem Abdul Jabbar.......yes it was his name after he changed it, but it still has a nice ring to it

You got all those names and what does Tim get?????.......................... "The Big Fundamental"....seriously even Dan Majerle had "Thunder Dan".....Tim needs a new nickname and it needs to be done by JBB....any ideas?

    EDIT

    "Roberta Flack" - cause tim kills you softly.......but that's a woman's name

    or

"The Silent Assasin" - something seems wrong about an assasin being silent.

ahhhhhhhh these won't work......great players need great nicknames....okay let's think about tim's personality..........he's a pretty layed back guy who at times appears to have cold blooded look on his face.

The Big Fundamental is better than or equal to the bolded names, in my opinion.

The only reason he's on par with Magic is because Magic's first name is Earvin[IMG]

Great read. Duncan really is a quiet villian. LeBrons going to get sportscenter but TD is going to get the ring. Kids 20 years from now will see all of LeBrons scoring titles and MVP's but then the'll see Tim Duncans rings. Not saying James won't get his.
