Both players have slowed down considerably, but Shareef is the more talented player. Thomas can stretch the defense out with his range, but Shareef also has an outside game and can pound it inside. But again, both players have aged, and have not been the same. The only problem with Shareef is that he's a cancer wherever he goes, his teams always are terrible when he joins them, but this year he finally went to the playoffs with Sacto.
Thomas has stepped up his game, I'll give the nod to him just because of the wway he's been playing, he was a key player in the Suns winning their series. I've always though Shareef is a little overrated, his teams always suck, I know it's probably not his fault but I can't help thinking about it.
SAR is the far better player. You guys have to remember that this is Tim Thomas' first games in a while. He has fresh legs. SAR has never been in this environement before, and it doesn't help going against the defending world champions. SAR is the more talented player easily.
its sad cause i pick Tim thomas. He has showed he can really play. With the suns,Or maybe hes doing it cause he knows this is contract year. But i take Tim
I will take Shareef. He is the better player, and he plays hard every year. I like Tim Thomas to an extent, but he is a guy that just turns his game on during contract years. He will always be solid, because he is talented, but he never really shows up until his contract year. Shareef has a good all around game. He's a pretty good post player, above average rebounder, and a good passer for his position. I'll take SAR.
Easily Shareef. Sorry. Just because Tim Thomas is having a good playoffs, you say he is better than Shareef. He obviously didnt play in Chicago for a reason. We will see how long Tim Thomas can keep that going but for now i pick reef.
Shareef. Both go under the radar. Shareef has a career average of about 19 ppg and 8 rpg. You might not say he has amounted to the 3rd overall pick of the '96 draft like he was but I think he is underated. As Tim Thomas goes he has had a career that averaged 12 ppg and 4 rpg. Not quite the top 10 pick that the Nets thought they were getting. Tim Thomas has never found a true home, he has been on 6 teams in his 10 year career. So I have to go with Shareef on this one.

It wasn't bc of him being a bad player.
Right now, Id take Tim. He's always been talented but he is just blowing up in the playoffs. Without him, the Suns probably wouldnt have won the series because for a while, he and Nash were the only ones playing well. He is a good shooter and overall good offensive player. He should get a new contract with the Suns next year.
Any player with speed and a jumper can play very well on the Suns, Tim Thomas is a fluke, on any other team he wouldn't be doing anything close to this. Shareef Abdur-Rahim for sure.
I didn't realize it was a contract year for Thomas, that could be a reason for his good play right now
Bingo, Thomas is a complete bust that doesn't really like basketball, he only plays hard when it benefits him.
Guys, like i said before, Thomas playing so well bc he has fresh legs. He only played 3 games in the regular season. This is like the beginning of the year for him, while everyone else has played 80+ games.
Tim Thomas has played well for the Suns for the postseason, but I think Shareef is the better player overall, because he can shoot outside and he can go inside. Reef's the better post player, and has more talent. So I'm going with Shareef, I think Tim is more like a bench player because he's not that durable
