Duncan had a great game today, but it wasn't enough to beat the Timberwolves. Duncan had 36 points and 20 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists to go along with that. But no one else stepped up, and the Big Three tore them apart. Cassell led the way with 33 points and 9 assists. Sprewell had 24 points and 7 assists, and Garnett had 22 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 5 assists. Madsen was the man off the bench with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Despite Duncan's great stats, the Timberwolves team beat up Duncan's supporting cast. We we down after pretty much every quarter, but we outscored the Spurs 35-25 in the fourth. Rasho, in his first time playing against the Wolves since he left them this offseason, scored 3 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Well, the Wolves are now 1 game ahead of the midwest and we are leading the division for the first time this season. I believe that we hold on to this lead for the rest of the year. Go Wolves! Box Score
Sam Cassell won this game for the Wolves, the time he had 2 straight threes that put Wolves from 83-79 down to 87-83 was the difference.Duncan outplayed Garnett in every area but the supporting cast of Cassell and Sprewell was too much.Mark Madsen did a very good job on the offensive end and on defense off the bench.Johnson did a very good job on the boards. If Sam Cassell doesn't make the all-star game this year then something is certainly wrong. He carried the Timberwolves basically all game.Duncan put up crazy numbers but at the end of the day,Wolves had more and better supporting help.
And Sam I am is not even in the top 10 in the West Guards voting! What a shame! I'd bet on it though, that coaches will select him, he's more deserving than ever. BTW This was a very important victory over our division-rivals. Awesome game!
Man, that sounds like quite a game, wish I'd had seen it. What a win....Twolves are doing so great this year. We can contend with the Lakers when they have Malone and Shaq too though, right? Congrats Twolves, keep it up!
Yeah, go wolves! I dont see the Lakers winning so i support the wolves right now in the midwest. Go! Great game to beat the spurs (wish i couldve watched it)
Great win for the Wolves on the road against a spectacular team. I would say Duncan won the individual matchup with KG, but didn't KG have a minor sprained ankle? Oh well for KG, he came out with the win last night. BTW- who would you guys rather have: KG or Duncan?
I have to show some respect to coach Flip on this on bringing in Madsen instead of Miller when KG got in foul trouble in the 4th. He had those two big layups around the basket that gave the t-wolves a 4 point lead early in the 4th. And that was big because both Sam & KG were on the bench to start the 4th. And the Spurs could have took the game over but his hustle & effort really prevented that. And Sprewell really did a good job keeping the wolves in the game early, cause Sam &KG both kind of struggled in the 1st half. This was a big win for the t-wolves. I think it opened the league's eyes to how good this team really is. I was watching the game on league pass, so the game was done using the spurs announcers & by the end of the game they even had to admit that the t-wolves are the best team in the league right now. The Kings have the best record so I guess their fans can argue that they are better. But the way you guys have been playing since after the first month of the season. From December till now is pretty impressive, not alot of teams could win a back to back in New orleans & at Spurs-ville.
*sighs* I lost my bet. I was hoping for the Spurs to win and make up for their embarrassing loss to Atlanta. Guess not, and now the Wolves have topped the Midwest division.
I tell you what, Sam Cassell is just too good. Period. Props clearly go to this man for totally taking over the game and LEADING the Wolves to a win in this one.
