<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">As angry as Kevin Garnett was after the Timberwolves' embarrassing 105-98 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night, he did not criticize any of his teammates by name and, as far as getting personal goes, took only a cryptic, general swipe at some in media for allegedly enjoying his team's nosedive. "I don't like talking when I'm frustrated," Garnett said. "Because it's not a clear mind." Of the frustration and failures of this season, he added: "It's been all year. It cost [coach] Flip [Saunders] his job, it cost ... us a lot." Yapping with rook Garnett didn't hold back during the game, though, exchanging words -- and above-the-rim moments -- with Hawks rookie Josh Smith. Smith, the slam dunk champ at All-Star Weekend in Denver, had a pair of sonic booms in the third quarter, sparking Atlanta's 44-28 finish over the game's final 18 minutes. "Me being a rookie, I guess he decided to talk trash a little bit, and I talked back a little bit," said Smith, who hit the NBA at 18 last fall, fresh from Oak Hill (Va.) Academy.</div> Source

As good as Garnett is, there is a serious problem when you resort to talking smack with a rookie. At the beginning of this year I picked the Wolves to meet the Pistons in the finals. Their plunge to mediocrity is the most inexcusable of any team in the League (keep in mind that the Lakers' plunge was the result of trades, etc). For the Wolves there is no excuse, they have the same team as last year, and the best player in the league on their team.
At least the Wolves have the chance to add some more consistent, younger backcourt players in the offseason. I'd love to Redd playing with Garnett.

But I doubt that Redd wants to play here and I doubt even more that he would take a paycut. The only way to get him is through a sign and trade.

I don't believe it was "gonna meet you after the game" talk, was it. I don't believe you should differentiate who you get into verbal jabs with. If you do, that means that your game and attitude is not consistent. KG is a fiery player who'll get into smack with ANYONE.
