Well, you change the oil and put it in drive. Make upgrades as possible. The same as you would a BMW or Audi.

You might not get there as quickly or with as much style, but you'll be making progress.

Right now we're just letting it sit in the driveway... Maybe idling it in park on game days.

Longterm, Billups is not the guy. But right now there is no amount / level of coaching that makes us win.

Has nothing to do with the record. At all. The record is perfectly fine.

Wins and losses don't matter now. Teaching offensive schemes that generate quality looks matters.

Getting Ayton good looks in rhythm matters. Same with Grant and Sharpe.

I've seen none of that from Chauncey. This year or last year. There is no progress being made. We need to be going out and finding the best up and coming coach now.

I wasn't talking record, I was talking player development/better. It's why the NBA gave the Spurs Wembanyama.

okay, i didn't think it was required to say available…. And would want to be here.

All four of those guys have jobs, two of them being recent head coach hires and one will never coach anywhere else. The one guy left i question if he could get anything better out of these guys. D’Antoni. Maybe the offense would be better but the defense would suck.

Rather walk or even LIMP than take a KIA or a Hyundai out of the driveway FAMS. When you bring one of those home, you know what you are getting and accept it. Kinda like marrying an ugly woman.

I think they are further ahead than that because they landed SGA in the same type of trade when Portland dumped Dame. SGA is a top-10 (ish) player and I have a very hard time believing any current Blazers is 2 or 3 years away from being a top-10 player. SGA is 25; Holmgren & Giddey are both 21; Jalen Williams is 22; Dort & Joe are 24

comparing age of starting starting units (assuming everybody healthy):

    OKC: 25+24+22+21+21 = 113 = 22.6 average age

    Port: 19+24+23+29+25 = 120 = 24.0 average age
(playing Sharpe out of position at SF drops the average to 23.4)

average age of the OKC roster is 23.5; Portland is 24.3

    https://en.hispanosnba.com/teams/comparison

Blazers are not on an OKC track. Thunder already have an established elite talent and a lot more supporting young talent that is busy establishing themselves. In order to see major upside with the Blazers comparable to OKC you have to tilt your head, squint you eyes, and use lots of imagination. Don't have to do that with OKC. The only advantage Portland might have is that OKC may have lots and lots of trouble paying all their young players their upcoming rookie extensions

How do you develop players when having to play next to gleague players and constant rotation players around them being changed due up to injury?

how can any of you possibly even think we can gauge team development right now?

i see development In hustle and effort. These guys are trying hard. Coach has them bought in.
Give him some time some stable rotations before saying he isn't developing gameplans.
Sharpe is developing. Ant developed last year and looked better this year.

    Udoka was available.

D'Atoni would make an interesting choice because Shae has shown he is great in the open court and I think Scoot would benefit from an uptempo offense.

The kids are getting better. And he's been very fair in his distribution of minutes. That's all that matters to me now. And guys are picking up good habits from what I can tell.

we can fire him when we start losing games that matter because of his lack of a game plan or poor x's/o's later on.

But was isn't now. People are talking about firing him now, for who?

    so past is irrelevant.

If you can get Dantoni out of the phoenix sun and to Portland, id be for it. Good luck with that though. ;)

so back to, who is a realistic better option?

you can criticize a lot of things about the way the players play, but "uninspired" is about the last thing I'd point at. They're working their asses off. Just look at the defense, rebounding, and deflections, etc. Effort is there. Talent isn't. Shooting especially lacking without Ant/Brog.

Pop reminds me of Bill Belichick. They had their all time great player and they won a ton of games and championships with that player, but as soon as that player left……
