    Greg Popovich's wins in the last 4 seasons: 32, 33, 34, 22.

The Spurs have started the current season with a 3-12 record and are in Last Place in the Western Conference.

The Spurs 10 game losing streak is by far the worst in the conference.

Monty Williams is supposed to be a good coach. The Pistons have the worst record in the NBA at 2-13. They also have the longest losing streak at 12 games.

If they players are playing hard for Billups, how would a different coach make a difference?

It doesn’t. Talent wins in the NBA.
The coach gets far too much credit for wins and far too much blame for losses.

Chauncey is a good coach for what this team is and that's a super-young roster that needs time and guidance to develop their games. In a couple years, when Scoot, Shady, Toumani and their future frp's are ready to make consistent playoff runs, Chauncey will have to be replaced. He's not an X's and O's guy. He's not shown the ability to make in-game adjustments, on either end. Their halfcourt sets are nonexistent. What he has shown is patience, which they'll need a lot of in the near future.

Here is his weak ass reasoning for not including anything more: "He’s locked into a long-term, expensive contract. The Blazers should be happy to simply get it off of their books. So, that’s what they’re doing here"

Portland might want to dump his salary at some point, but not for two 2nd round picks. They can get that anytime

This is pre Harden trade, no?

I think the market will dictate grant’s value. And it’s very possible he’ll be BPA in terms of his player archetype—so many teams are convinced they’re buyers and not sellers rn.

Billups has this team at 17th defensively. Thats way better than I expected before the season.

Yeah the offense has been very bad but big injuries to Ant, Brogdon, TimeLord, Scoot as well as a limited Sharpe makes that an inevitability.

I've been very pleased with the the development of Sharpe, Camara, Walker. Also the effort of Grant, Ayton, and really the entire roster has been very good.

This team just sucks, especially after a few injuries, it might be the worst roster in the NBA.

I'm not convinced Billups is the coach to take the team from playoffs to contending. But since were multiple years if not many more from being at that spot - I don't understand threads like this. It just sounds like delusional fans with totally unrealistic expectations. These fans seem to lack an understanding strategically what this franchises goals are right now.

Maybe the Spurs or Pistons can bring in Luke Walton, who coached his team to the greatest start in NBA history, to turn things around?

What advantage does getting Grant's contract off the Blazers books provide?

He has the only big long term contract on the cap. Yeah if we get a couple other max guys maybe it eventually becomes a concern, but its not right now or anytime soon.

If the Blazers can get some good firsts for Grant then sure consider it - if not then see what his value is next year. There is no rush. We'll suck with Grant and we'll suck without him. Will have no luxury tax with Grant and we'd have no luxury tax if he was off the cap - again irrelevant.

Agreed. Pretty much every one of these NBA rumor guys looks at Portland and says, “Yeah, they should be happy being screwed.” You’d think that they would have learned something from the Dame to Miami for squat BS.

Grant's contract is bad. There is no reason for him to be on this team at any price, let alone that one. I will be surprised if we end up getting anything more than a couple of seconds after paying him millions of bucks to jack up shots for a couple of seasons, but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. Expecting more than filler and minor draft capital is more than I think is reasonable.

What's he hurting though? It's not like he's squeezing out a young player, or putting us in danger of luxury tax.

you’re absolutely right except I’m not sure there are enough other pieces of grant’s ilk on the market to make the contract all that bad.

Klutch and grant would have to throw a public fuss of unprecedented grant proportions to make the deal you mentioned be the deal. else, Portland can just wait past the deadline, nbd.
