Question: Why is BF1 always talking negatively about Michael Vick?

    A) Bears suck
    [IMG] Bears QB's suck
    C) Bitter and jealous
    D) All of the above

Correct answer: D. All of the above

This topic is so played out its ridiculous. It wasn't Vick's best performance but it was the first game of the season against a great Eagles defense. This game was a defensive battle from beginning to end and it wasn't a pretty win but I'll take it. A win is a win.

I gotta agree with justbry - my Bills were kicking field goals almost all day against the Texans - I wasn't concerned because of our suffocating D. I honestly don't feel the least bit uncomfortable with our D on the field this year (nor did I last year).

I can really care less if all we do all year long is kick field goals - as long as we're winning. In fact - if we went on to win a lot of games by only kicking field goals this year, that would be awesome because our D would get the attention and respect it deserves from the media.

But I know there are offenses out there that we will have to score TD's on if we expect to win, that's just reality.

First of all, I attacked the Bears but I don't recall attacking you. I was just simply pointing out that you're acting like a fan of a losing team with garbage QB's. Hey, I'd be bitter and jealous too. To answer the question, the answer was actually F) Talking smack on a smack talk forum.

You do know that there were a few good QB's who didn't play too great the first week right? Example: Favre, Culpepper, Pennington etc. It's the first week and already you are going on about Vick, clearly you had nothing better to contribute.

Vick didn't play HORRIBLE, there were some bad passes, a few fumbles and some bad penalties that resulted in plays being called back. I'm not saying it was Vick's best performance because it wasn't, there is room for a lot of improvement on Monday's game but its still week one. I find it pathetic that some people watch Vick play just so they can nitpick at every little thing he does wrong. Time for a new hobby. Option B states, the Bears' QB played way better than Vick passing the ball. Okay, AND where did that lead the Bears? To a loss, big surprise. As far as option C goes, its ignorant and doesn't deserve any kind of response.

There is no nitpicking with Vick because his lack of ability is painfully obvious..if you watched last night you saw Vintage Falcons...Great running game and a very good defense being held back by a mediocre QB making mistakes...I saw vick badly miss receivers on a few occasions nevermind the 3 turnovers and a total of just over 200 yards...Sorry but Vick doesn't look like he has changed at all..maybe its just week one jitters..but something tells me Vick in the pocket still isn't scaring anyone...now this comes from a Fan who is DEFINITELY not jealous of your QB.

Yeah after last night I'm even more thankful for having Tom Brady as my QB. Also I'm glad I have Belichick as HC b/c he would not have let what happened prior to the game happen under his watch.

Ya that surprised me because because both coaches seem like no nonsense guys and you would think their teams would reflect that.

That's about as good as summary as I've heard. If Michael Vick could hit the broad side of a barn, the Falcons would have killed the Eagles last night. I don't want hear any crap about results instead of stats. Patrick Kearney was the most dominate player in that game and he won't get any credit because the whores of media are handcuffed to Ron Mexico's bed. John Madden said that when Vick has the ball in his hand that he's the most dangerous player in the game. That's one of the most stupidest statements I ever heard and I've heard Theisman call a lot of games. Let's give the Falcons credit for some creative cheating. It was brilliant to have a backup DB get in a fight with Jeremiah Trotter before the game. Of course, if someone else gets wise, they might try the same tactic with Alge Crumpler. Without have Crumpler to throw 5 yard dumpoffs, Vick might not complete a pass the entire game.

Yes, but Madden also indirectly called Vick the Falcon's running back. He mentioned that Vick was the best person to run the football on the entire team. I thought the Falcon's had a pretty good runner in Dunn.

An astute observation by a man with a firm grasp on only the extremely obvious.

BF1 you know I dont hate you or nothing but your bagging on these teams is getting to a ridiculous rate, Mcnabb and Vick=OVERRATED no secret but they get wins.

I dont guve a shit if your quarterback had a better passing game than vick because as you have said "a win is all that counts"

See, everyone who gives credit to vick for teh win, even though he hurt team, and they won despite him. Defense played great, dunn and duckett ran well. He missed so many open recievers. Give the team the win, they earned not Vick

It was the team that earned that win, not Vick. I won't argue that because its true. Dunn ran really well and Duckett could have had 2 TD's if it weren't for a stupid penalty that had the TD called back. Vick did make a few good plays but there were more than a few passes that went too high or completely missed the WR all together. It will be interesting to see how he plays next week.

I got a question. Whats wrong with winning the game with running and defensive play?

Thats pretty much what Vick does. He does make a big play every now and then with his arm. Correct me if I am wrong but that no accurate QB threw a perfect pass to Michael Jenkins early in the game. So yes he can throw. It's the first game and for the first game he looked half way decent. I do agree Vick needs to put up with his arm this year or .......... maybe switch positions but the problem is as long as the Falcons are winning with Vick as their QB. He's not gonna get benched no matter what some of you might wish.

I don't care if the Falcons bench Vick or not. If they lose another playoff game because a good defense shuts down the run and Vick can't move the ball by throwing it (like last year's Championship Game vs Eagles), it's no skin off my nose. I'm just not going to listen to how Vick is a great QB without calling people out on it. I'll say it again. If Vick could hit WRs with any consitancy, they would have killed the Eagles last Monday night.

Edit - To try an answer Porky's question, winning some games with running and defense is okay, but if your one dimensional on offense, it makes it extremely difficult to win Championships.

McNabb isn't overrated as a passer, he proved that last year. As for Vick, it's just the truth. We'll see how things pan out, but I continue to doubt Vick's ability to throw the ball, and I'm starting to doubt his ability to improve

    Ok I can understand that.

You think Vick is the most overrated QB in the game right now. I don't think Vick is that overrated since a lot of people including media think is passing is still in question.

But I can respect your opinion.

My opinion is that one of the reasons that the falcons running game is so good is because of michael vick. not only for his running ability but for how defensive lines have to play him, they cant converge on the qb like u can for an immobile qb so they have to rush straight which provides monster running lanes for tj duckett and warrick dunn. So i believe vick is still the man for the falcons because they rely so heavily on their run game because one they dont have a guy that can accurately throw the ball and even if they do get a guy like that whos he gonna throw to?
