Time Warner Cable-Contracts Bums TV games for 8.7 Billion over the next 25 years.

Time Warner Cable (TWB), just upped their ante from 50 million$ payout to the Doy-Yers, to 210 million $$$ per year, with increasing payments over the next 25 years. The Overall Cable contract awarded was 8.7 Billion to be paid out over the next 25 years. The multi-million dollar payout from TWB to the Bums, ensures, to the Bums, to pay all but 80 million of their bloated roster payroll.

The fallout, is local channel(s) KCAL-9 (Vin Scully's Home Network); and Prime Ticket (PT), the cable channel which used to show every single Bums game away and at home. Will no longer be showing a single Bums game. A new network has been formed, by Time Warner Cable-‘LADSN‘. In order to get the Bums games, every single one of them. My DirecTv (DTV), & others TWB-Cable bills, will escalate $20 per month, if it is even available at all to DirecTv customers. At this time, no deal has been struck with DirecTv at all, by TWB, other than Kern County (Bakersfield). I've had PT & KCAL (a local broadcast channel) since 85. Last year, 40 additional ‘premium channels, including Prime Ticket, and Fox Sports West was a mere $4 a month for Cable & DirecTv .

One would think some of this money would lower ticket prices. NOT!!!! Besides seats inflating to 140 percent over last year. A Bums seat is no longer affordable to those who are either retired, not working, or not working a white collar job. Blue Collar workers will be lucky to see any game in Chavez Ravine. Concessions have quadrupled in the last few years, as well as parking. Most fans, simply cannot afford seats, (other than Nose Bleed, or CF bleacher seats). Nose Bleed seats, 3rd and 4 th mezzanines, should of remained 5$. Now they are 15$, for the worst seat in the house. (Bring your binoculars). Sitting in nose bleed upper deck seats, is horrendous. Every fly ball looks like a HR. A skewered view of any game.

Guggenheim will be dominating the NL, while this Billion Dollar deal, sets a dangerous precedent for all MLB. Ensuring mega money in the next ¼ of a Century, Guggy can continue to outbid other teams for MLB-Free Agents, Pan-Am and Japan, Korea, (& others) Free Agents. The YES channel on DTV, is not offered this year either, as part of So. Cal. sports packages. Guggenheim can continue to over pay & outbid most teams in MLB, for high dollar contracts. A dangerous move for fans.

Bums games used to be amongst the cheapest to attend in all of MLB. It was but a few years ago, a all bleacher OF seats were only $3. If you can find tickets. They have risen, quickly out of reach, obtainable only by scalpers, with few rarely available at ‘Call Waiting‘. Most of this years tickets are already sold out. The demand is also driving up seats, concessions, parking, & TV prices.
Call waiting will be a free for all for 10s of thousands of fans, left to fight over what little are even available. I went to but 1 game last yr. paid 25$ to park, 40$ for 2 hot dogs, 2 soft drinks, & 1 bag of peanuts. Ticket in 2nd mezz, was $60 from a scalper, for a $50 season ticket seat. Total cost for 4 hours of fun, $125, not counting $50 for gas to get to the park. Gas is 4.19 now, for Regular, 4.39 for Premium, (that is BP’s gas prices, while Chevron all OPEC gas stations, are an average of 20 cents more, ie. $4.59 for Premium Chevron). A total of $175 per game, for 1 person!!!

One can spend 16 hours at Disneyland for less, than the cost to see a Bums game. Yet, one can’t see a MLB game at Disneyland.

Update on the Bums Time Warner Cable Contract:
Here we are in Spring Training. Every single day, the Doy-yers have been scheduled to appear on MLB TV. Each and every game has been BLACKED OUT!!! WTF- seriously guys, ST blacked out? Is TWB guarding their new enterprise so over zealously, they are afraid the Bums can't fill a ST-AZ game? That's not the case, the stands are full, sold out!

So what's the problem? TWB is not going to share so much as a peek of any Bums games, regardless of ST or in season. What's going to happen, if they have to share their new acquisition with Broadcast Channels, if the Bums make it to the Post Season. Is TWB, going to ensure they black out only Bums players during the All Star game? I'm sure not, tho' it feels like that would be their next step, in ensuring LA's team, is theirs and only theirs, unless of course you want to pay out the nose!
However, with DirecTv, even that is not possible, not even for a flipping Spring Training game.

There has been a reason, I have never been a Bums fan, even tho' the Stadium is but a hour away. Lasorda ruined BB for me. Alston, Koufax, Drysdale, and the great Giants rivalry games with Marichal, Mays, McCovey, Gaylord Perry (when he was young), were worthwhile great historical games.
WTF-TWB-pack it in your butt whistle...!!!

As I said earlier, TWB & the Bums, next step would be to charge Fan-atics a license fee to wear their damn Doy-Yer hats, and other Doy-Yer apparel, of which I have never owned any Bums hats or jerseys, and won't. Doing such is Taboo. This Bronx Bombers hat is glued to my head!!! Before we all get charged a license fee just to wear a MLB New Era or authentic MLB hat. (actually the license fee is already included in a $45 dollar hat from “Lids”. When on sale, one can buy a MLB hat for $35, plus tax. CA, tax is 8.25%, and if our Governor had his way, as he has been trying, to raise our sales tax to 10%.

I wish the ex-Yankee Captain well in his Managerial endeavor. It's long over due to have a decent skipper in the city of Lost Angels, who was a great ballplayer, now the Tinsel Town Skipper. If only Donnie BB owned the damn club, we would have a different mindset or dynamic, when it comes to ensuring the fans are appeased. Perhaps-"money doesn't talk it swears".

Update: TWB-Cable is negotiating with DTV, and will come to some kind of conclusion by March 22nd. I don’t expect to see Bums games, without a big increase to my DTV bill. I won’t move to Bakersfield either!!!

Well that's how they cleanup the joint of all the gang bangers. Now maybe Nickolson will get seats behind home plate.

Sorry guys, but the American past time is only for those that are experiencing the American dream. Although this trend is hitting both major and small markets alike.

Good Point totus. But those gang bangers are now white collar criminals, making more money than most people who have honest jobs.

The gang bangers can afford seat behind home plate; right next to Nicholson. Yet, point well made. Maybe now the Bums can afford real security. It blows my mind how the Giants-Bums rivalry has seen to much violence, especially in Chavez Ravine, since the LAPD training facility is right there next to Dodger Stadium.

Never understood how anyone get get beaten to pulp, in Chavez Ravine. But then look around the hill at the barrios, some of the worst in L.A. just down the hill-sides from the stadium.

Our Local CA. League upper A league Team, has gotten expensive to attend, like you said. Altho' one can still get a seat behind home-plate any night of the week, and buy those great seats just an hour before game time. But, God Forbid, if you need a drink other than water, or a snack. Fo-get about it!!!

I love Minor League ball. It's a blast watching the likes of Griffey Jr., J. Cruz Jr.-(one arrogant fuk), C. Gonzalez of the Rockies, K. Clemens a small stock Catcher, who led the league in RBIs could hit the long ball too, yet just couldn't make the Majors. Pineda, R. Johnson (in a exhibition game), J.Buhner's brother, and quit a few others, to many to name. (I will put a post up of the players who have played in this one horse desert dirt town, in a day or two.

NTM-its easy to get autographs of players and Managers/Coaches, like G.Nettles, C.Hough, J.Clark, J.Slaton-(another arrogant pompous fuk), and a ton of others.

Good point totus! I've seen a gang banger wear a white collar Van Heusen. Or enable creative financial institutions....LMAO.

Wait a minute, I need my ass to hold my pants up! (just say no to Oshkosh by gosh). Guess I'll have to get a pair of suspenders. Doh- I don't want to look any older than I already am. Guess, I'll also have to die my hair Yankee Blue, with pinstripes too. Now that would be something.
