Gave up a 2nd in 15 and a conditional 4th in 16. Did they just take themselves out of the Vermette sweepstakes?

That is my hope also Prod. Go after a lesser forward now hopefully. A lot to give up for a guy who hasn't played in a year...crazy IMO.

I don't think so, I bet they'd give up their 1st for Vermette, plus a decent prospect they still have a bunch of.

My guess is they probably want to keep him in the organization in some regard even if he retires or can't play to help Erixon or Runblad figure it out.
Pretty much a nothing trade. Again, giving up a second is moronic. Usually the Hawks aren't stupid.

McNeil is a hard nosed, two way center prospect I like. He's 22 with size. His numbers offensively are OK in the AHL. 28 points in 42 games. I could see him being a piece that the Yotes would like for Vermette. However, I think Chicago's farm sucks now compared to what it used to be. It's badly overrated. A package of McIlrath and Lindberg is a lot more enticing than McNeil and some picks other than a first if the Rangers went there. I'd rather the Rangers kept both 2nd rounders and just gave up McIlrath and Lindberg if they had to have Vermette.

However, my first option would be to add Bernier for a late round pick. If not him Korpikoski who would instantly make our 4th line better.

For the first time on this trade stuff, I am with you dump. We don't need some big ticket item. If we got Vermette okay, but we don't need that. We have a very good team and need some depth upfront and on D.

If we got Bernier or Letestu or McClement or if we could get Glencross to come here I could live with any of those guys. They add depth to the bottom 6. Then you double it up by adding a Hejda or Gleason on D and I am fine.

We are talking about a 3rd pair dman for us, so we should not give up a top return for that IMO.

Adding a Gleason or Hejda type is perfect for us on D. Combine that with one of the forwards I mentioned, and I am fine.

If we got Gleason and Bernier I would have zero issue with that. Or McClement or Letestu (add faceoff ability) and Gleason I would be fine.

We don't have to go big. We have a very good team. But we do have to add some depth to the bottom 6 and 3rd pair. We cannot pull a nothing like 2012 (John Scott is nothing). We have to add a couple of real depth pieces to the team, guys that will play every game and have their role. That is a MUST at the very least. We are real close.

If we went to Carolina and dealt a mid pick and mid prospect for McClement and Gleason I would have zero issue with that.

Both are affordable UFA's to be. McClement is 55% on faceoffs. Gleason hasn't been great this year, but on the 3rd pair with Boyle he would be a solid add.

That could be a good duo.

I would love to convince Glencross to come here though. I think he would be a real good fit as well.

Fast should be back by Monday also, AV better take Glass out and leave Miller and Stemp in.

The best part is we are almost done with the waiting. Two more days and finally we can stop all the speculating about what will we do.

Did I just read that chuck agrees with dump on the trade stuff? I am shocked.

Getting Vermette depends on what zona is asking. If they are asking for some crazy package then Sather should not bother. If Sather can get them to take Fast and late draft pick then he should take and run with it. I can't trust Miller fully yet. He still seems to be on and off with his play. Player like Vermette can stabilize that third line and bump Miller to the fourth line. I agree also that they need a bottom guy to play with Boyle. I am not crazy about JMoore/ Hunwick combination.

Sather beaten to the punch again. Caps traded for Gleason.

The Carolina Hurricanes have traded defenseman Tim Gleason to the Washington Capitals for defenseman Jack Hillen and a 4th round draft pick that originally belonged to the Coyotes..

Good solid add for them on D. Could be our 1st round matchup.

    Glen...

    Funny Step...LOL.

If Sather can get them to take Fast and late draft pick then he should take and run with it.

Come on bro, we are not getting Vermette for Fast and late pick. It will take at least a 2nd round pick plus to get Vermette.

The Florida Panthers have traded forward Tomas Fleischmann to the Anaheim Ducks for 2015 3rd round pick and Dany Heatley.

Wow. Great move for the Ducks. For that little? Where's GS on the circle line today?
