Starting point guard T.J. Ford?s foot injury isn?t as severe as some people in the organization had originally feared.

Ford, who injured his foot in Tuesday night?s game against the Heat in Miami, underwent a magnetic resonance imaging Wednesday afternoon. The MRI revealed no structural damage and only a sprain.

Bucks coach Terry Stotts said before the MRI that he wasn?t sure how long Ford would be sidelined, depending on the severity of the injury. Stotts had already ruled Ford out of Friday night?s game against the New York Knicks at the Bradley Center.

Players who have suffered similar injuries were usually sidelined around two weeks. If Ford is sidelined that long, he would miss eight games.
Ford, who couldn?t be reached for comment, is having a solid season but was playing quite well recent weeks. Ford is averaging 13.2 points and 6.7 assists this season, but in the last seven games prior to the Miami game, he averaged 16.3 points.

Ford got hurt 4:41 into the Miami game, when he drove hard to the basket and was fouled by James Posey. Ford made both free throw shots before leaving the game for good.

Maurice Williams will replace Ford in the starting lineup. Williams, who started 80 games for the Bucks last season while Ford recovered from spinal cord surgery, has played a key role in the Bucks? strong start this season. </div>
