Ric Bucher on ESPN said Houston wants to get out from under the 63 million left on McGrady's deal and is actively looking to shop him. He said the darkhorse is to Minnesota for McCants, Ratliff's expiring deal and our first. He said Glen Taylor is intrigued by the offer because McGrady would sell seats and T-Mac and Al Jefferson as a 1-2 punch would speed up the rebuilding. But the Wolves front office supposedly does not want to give up a probable top 3 pick and wants Houston to take salary of Antoine Walker or Marko Jaric back in return. I know that there is a better deal out there for Houston. I don't think that even the Wolves are dumb enough to give up their first round pick. Now, if it's Miami's pick that's another story. But it doesn't really matter. There is no way this would ever come true.
Rule #1 when it comes to trade rumors: If Ric Bucher is involved in any way, shape, or form, it is completely false. I don't think I've ever... literally EVER... seen a story "broke" by Ric Bucher ever turn out to be true. I also don't think that rumor was including this year's first round pick from Minnesota. If it were to go down, which I agree it likely won't, it'd be future picks. McHale is an idiot, but there's no way he gives up potentially the #1 pick in this draft (4th pick at absolute worst) for an declining All-Star with back problems.
And that the Kidd to LA deal fell dead at the 23rd hour because "Rod Thorn just woke up after agreeing to the deal and decided he didn't want to do it after all"
