Use them here in Italy . . . love the idea. It taxes the people who actually use the road. I'm not sure where the money goes, but if it is to pay for the up keep of the road, I think it is a terrifc idea.

Too bad I rented some slow vehicle . . . would love to take a fast car on that highway. I think thier is no speed limit on it . . . at least people drive like that.

Do you know papag? (talking about the A11)

Yeah they're great. I like how people move to the right out of courtesy when you come down the leftside at high speeds.

Courtesy? I feel if I don't get out the way, they will run me down. Drivers don't seem concerned about riding someone close at high speeds. But I'm slowing getting it . . . and I move over to the right as soon as I pass the slower trucks or "mini cars.' I can't believe some of these small cars that get on that highway . . . i don't think I could do it.

Yeah I didn't know the rules of the road either and was high beamed and honked at. They make a very big deal out of cutting someone off coming out of the slower lane.

What part of Italy are you in?

I'm a huge fan of toll roads, or user taxes in general. Tax those that actually use the good or service.

    Amen!

It's weird driving without them out in portland. Got so used to them around Chicago, seems like a smart idea. We'd probably fuck it up though. And half the residents here would whine that it's the fault of the people from California. What, I don't know. But they do like to whine about them a lot.

In the Tuscany area (Montecatini) . . . only one week left. :(

I'm getting the high beam signal down . . . haven't been honked at yet.

Went to Cinque Terre yesterday and ran into a bunch of traffic (a truck caught on fire on the A11).

I swear I could live here . . . maybe even learn to drive in Rome :D (I did drive in Lucca, which the books warn never to do)

Toll roads a good idea? Yall apparently have never been around Chicago. Toll roads are annoying. What the hell are you supposed to do when you don't have money and you get to one of those? If they took credit cards or debit it'd be a different story. The toll roads are ridiculous. They do all that tolling, yet Illinois still has some of the worst roads in the nation.
