Tomlinson Not Surprised Patriots Might Have Cheated
QUOTE

Boston Herald - Chargers' running back LaDainian Tomlinson is among those not surprised by allegations the Patriots used a camera to steal signs. “I think the Patriots actually live by the saying, ‘If you’re not cheatin, you’re not trying,’ ” Tomlinson told reporters with a hearty laugh in San Diego yesterday. “I mean, I think that’s the way they live off that statement. You keep hearing the different stories of people complaining about stuff that they do. So I’m not surprised.” Tomlinson mentioned the Dolphins and Jets and how “they got a hold of a playbook or something.
http://www.realgmfootball.com/src_wiretap_...t_have_cheated/
I'm not going to defend the Chargers embarrassing playoff meltdown last season, but this would sure as hell explain a whole lot as to why the Chargers absolutely melted down in the second half of that game.
Either way, people are going to take this quote and run with it because of their NFL Sunday Night Primetime matchup in New England.

Re: Tomlinson: This "cheating event" doesn't explain anything imo. There isn't enough information to know how much this would have helped. This is even greater speculation than all that Steroid crap in Baseball.
Re: Tomlinson: I don't think it's a reach or speculation. If you know the game of football, you know the play calls and you can go back and watch the play on tape...you know what to expect. Plain and simple.

Re: Tomlinson: Bill Billicheat exposed!
There was interesting topic on the Collin Herd Show this morning with Bobby Bowden. Collin asked if Eric Mangini just put his career in the NFL at risk by whistle blowing on his former mentor and team?
Bowden responded there is a strong coaching fraternity and said usually if a coach is aware of these type of tactics they'll warn the other coach first. Saying I know what you do, and you better not do it against us otherwise I'm going to tell.
If you were Mangini would you have made the same choice? Does this make Mangini a hypocrite since he was part of this while he coached in New England?

Re: Tomlinson: Where is LT whining? He said he wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots cheated, like most of the major media outlets have said.
I do agree about the half-time adjustments though.

Re: Tomlinson: I do believe Mangini blew the whistle on this, and he had every right to. People have issues with steroids and cheating...this is just as bad, if not worse, than using steroids to cheat. The Patriots knew their opponents signals and could adjust to that, giving them a major advantage.
Manning now has an excuse he can fall back on when New England owned him. I'd be interested in hearing his comments about this.

Re: Tomlinson: There is an enormous theoretical web of decite here....Perhaps this is why Belicheck was so adament that Mangini not take the Jets job but was so supportive of Weis to ND and Crennell to Cleveland....BB knew he had to see Mangini twice a year and either play it straight or risk getting exposed....I cant wait for the league to untangle this a bit so we can find out how deep it goes....

No one should until more information is gathered on this subject.

Re: Tomlinson: I think it's too obvious of an impact this had on games. They call Bill the master of halftime adjustments for a reason, it makes sense, now.

Simply saying it takes you from borderline playoff contender to super bowl champs. Falling of the face of the earth is just a way for you to make sure no one can take them down. You can say "see they still made the playoffs" and justify thier loss this time as just not being good enough. Also, you are still standing on the leg they only cheated one way. I would say they probably cheat several ways. I will list of some
1: HGH - still mostly undecteable.
2. Stealing signs with video cameras
3. Stealing playbooks from other teams with targeted free agent acquisitions. I would go as far as to say i dont think it is a coincidence that they targetted someone on the ravens D to help thier team. Probably offered him a little extra for him to copy his playbook.
4. Paying refs. Tuck rule. Enough said.
5. Artificially manipulating playing environment. You know they doctor thier field.
These are the top 5 ways they cheat, but i am sure thier are others. From great dynasty to great farce in 1 week.

They've been caught cheating, so who's to say they weren't cheating in the SuperBowl or SuperBowls? Again, like I said, we were up at halftime, who's to say Bill Belichik didn't go into the lockeroom to review tape and steal our signals or defensive or offensive schemes? From now on, the Patriots organization has lost all my respect, and I'll never root for them again. I'll gladly say that I am happy that they will lose their 1st round pick in 2008, and hopefully LT and the Chargers put up a big beating on them this Sunday.

Re: Tomlinson: One word comes to mind....TAINT!!!! Its all tainted now becuase they can't prove they didnt cheat the entire length of the taintynasty....the burden of proof shifted from the accuser to the accused as soon as they got caught....and if they get beat this weekend, my level of suspision that they cheated in last years playoffs will go through the roof....until I see evidence otherwise, I will presume that they have been cheating for several years....
