<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Miami Heat seemingly bolstered its chances of advancing to the 2006 NBA Finals thanks to Tuesday's unprecedented five-team, 13-player trade that sent Antoine Walker and Jason Williams their way.

Miami, already loaded with Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade, made the biggest gains so far this summer but it isn't the only Eastern Conference team to make notable moves.

The Nets acquired Shareef Abdur-Rahim in a sign-and-trade from Portland and are expected to sign free-agent Jeff McInnis to complement Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson.

Washington added veteran Antonio Daniels, who won a title with San Antonio in 1999. The Wizards' inexperience in the postseason was glaring last spring when Miami pounced on them in the second round and swept Washington out of the playoffs. Daniels' know-how could make a difference.

For Bulls' fans, such transactions may underscore the team's relative inactivity this summer, but none of these deals unnerves Bulls general manager John Paxson.

"We know that a lot of teams in the Eastern Conference have made significant moves," Paxson said Wednesday. "We're not in a position to worry about that."

Paxson is comfortable knowing the Bulls' future, at least in the short term, still rests largely with restricted free agents Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry and Chris Duhon, along with Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich and Andres Nocioni.

Chandler, Curry, Duhon and Gordon are 22; Deng, 20; Hinrich, 24; and Nocioni, 25.

Once he re-signs the restricted players, Paxson will focus on getting a veteran free agent to complement the young group.

Toni Kukoc is still on the Bulls' wish list but might re-sign with Milwaukee. Tom Gugliotta and Malik Allen are other options.

"We have such a young team," Paxson said. "We have to see what we have for another year and let them kind of grow together."</div>

Paxson really echoed what I have stated many times on this board. On why we should be comfortable with our team. As far as the guys we are targeting I think Malik Allen would be a nice signing Skiles has shown he can pull the best out of players (Lawrence last season in the post season). Allen has the potential to be a solid backup we will need one when Davis? contract expires if he does not resign for the minimum.
