Guests Encouraged to Arrive Early and Consider Alternative Transportation Options

PORTLAND, Ore. (January 11, 2017) – Officials with the Portland Trail Blazers and NBA have confirmed that tonight’s home game vs. Cleveland at Moda Center will take place at 7:30 p.m., as scheduled. With inclement weather still impacting Oregon and Southwest Washington, fans are encouraged to arrive early and exercise their best judgement in taking any necessary safety precautions. Moda Center doors open at 5:30 p.m., and guests should factor in additional time to clear venue security checkpoints.

Fans already holding tickets for tonight’s game but unable to attend due to inclement weather can exchange them for a comparably-valued game in the future. However the exchange policy only applies to tickets purchased through the Trail Blazers or Ticketmaster, and not those purchased on the secondary market. Questions about tickets purchased on the secondary market should be directed to that retailer. For additional information and assistance with exchanges, ticketholders are asked to call 1-844-RIPCITY tomorrow or Friday during regular business hours. Exchange requests will only be honored through Friday.

Trail Blazers pregame programming on CSN Northwest begins with Rip City Live at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Toyota Pregame Show at 7 p.m. Tonight’s play-by-play telecast can be found on KGW Channel 8 and ESPN at 7:30 p.m. On the radio, the Trail Blazers Pregame Show tips off at 6:30 p.m. on flagship Rip City Radio AM-620 and the Trail Blazers Radio Network.

The following are additional suggestions for managing travel to the Rose Quarter tonight:

    • Consider Alternative Transportation – With added capacity on busy event nights, MAX Light Rail and TriMet bus service frequently travel through the Rose Quarter transit center. For schedules, fares and route information, visit www.trimet.org. Due to large game-night crowds and weather conditions, please allow extra time for your transit choice.
    • Bicycle Access to Rose Quarter – With 30 racks and capacity to secure 300 bicycles, Rose Quarter guests are welcome to ride bicycles to the venue, but should use caution considering tonight’s weather conditions.
    • Pedestrian Foot Traffic – With some of Portland’s most accessible and progressive neighborhoods located nearby, guests are welcome to walk to Rose Quarter events.
    • Parking Garages and Surface Lots – Parking garages and parking facilities adjacent to the Rose Quarter will be available for a parking charge. Due to limited spaces, guests are encouraged to consider alternative transportation means or carpool. When choosing any Rose Quarter parking option, guests are reminded to remove or store valuables out of sight, and lock their vehicles.

In what was a surprising move by the NBA, the NBA has agreed to have the Trail Blazers delay the loss in tonights game until much later in the season, as compensation for their late flight out of Seattle. The Cavs could not be reached for comment.

I'll just put on my tap shoes and walk to the game.

    What could go wrong?

You're not getting in the spirit of things. You've got 3 hours to get on your bike and peddle yourself to the Moda.

It's BS that this game is happening tonight.

We have police, fire, rescue, PBOT, ODOT, tow truck drivers working nonstop for over 24hrs to keep people safe. The mayor of Portland has declared a state of emergency and has asked people to stay home. Now instead of allowing some of the people who have been keeping us safe go and grab a hot meal, to catch a nap or to even check on their own families they now have to worry about an unknown number of people showing up to a not that important sporting event. This is wrong. In reading between the lines this is something that the NBA is forcing to happen, not the Blazers.

If you're going to the game tonight be safe but also be courteous. It's been a long 24hrs.

A couple people I know whose employment is impacted by this are exhausted but enjoying the overtime. It's like a bonus. Not saying everyone loves it, but some are more than happy to cash in.
