heres the celtics.com report on him

    Tony Battie

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tale of the Tape: 6-11, 240, Texas Tech, 7th Season

Skinny: Battie returns for his third year as the Celtics starting center. He has contributed on both ends of the floor the last two seasons and has mastered the Celtics defensive schemes. In 02-03 Battie shot 53.9 percent from floor, increasing his scoring average to 7.3 points per game and recorded a career high 81 blocked shots. All this production was on a knee that forced him to miss a majority of practices and 15 games. If healthy, look for Battie to be another player who benefits from an up-tempo style. Battie is much faster than most centers in the league and should be able to beat them down court for easy baskets.

Questions: Battie had offseason knee surgery and indications are that he will be fine when training camp opens, but the Celtics will need him to remain healthy. Also, finally healthy, will he be able to improve upon the numbers he put up last year and have a breakout season?

I'm not sure quite what "speed" theyre referring to. If he has it I've never seen it. I also am just assuming that he wont stay healthy this year just cause he never does. I predict another typical bustastic season for el busto

If Battie can stay healthy I think he can average about 8 points and 8 rebounds a game with one block per game
