http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/blog?name=nba_draft&id=5260049 I wonder what we have to give up to make a run for him Andre Miller, Marcus Camby, Jerryd Bayless and a couple draft picks would be my offer.
I think the Spurs want young new talent that they can build around, not old players with only a few years left. They are going to ask for Batum no matter what and no way i'd give up Batum along with all the other pieces we'd have to give for an always injured parker.
Sounds like they want a high pick to grab a big man to play alongside, and then grab the torch from Duncan. Pretty sure a deal would have to start with Aldridge.
Really? I'd be all over that deal, and I'm a big fan of all three players mentioned. If Batum had to be included as well, though, I'd pass.
Well if you could then do a sign & Trade with New York David Lee I could live with sending Aldridge out for Parker. I don't think we'd lose a lot up front replacing Aldridge with Lee, but a PG that has been to the big show a few times would be a big boost for this team.
How? Two players on the wrong side of thirty and a tweener combo guard who doesn't really shoot all that well and has question marks about his ability to defend. You really think the Spurs would think they were getting a steal if they were offered this package?
they can have Aldridge for him. I'd rather have Tony parker as a #2 to Roy than Aldridge, and it is a hell of a lot easier to find a good PF than it is a good PG these days.....
Miller, Bayless and JPEC? I'm no capologist... obviously. Given Tony's previous work with Duncan, I'd be loathe to remove Aldridge to gain Parker.
I wouldn't want to give up Camby, the only center on the roster that I expect to be healthy come training camp, for a PG. Howard and Pendegraph would be playing quite a bit. The upgrade from Miller to Parker isn't worth that potential trainwreck.
Look, Parker is only 28 years old, can create shots for himself, can play off of Roy and can find open teamates. He would be a perfect fit for a team that wants to compete NOW. I maintain that it would be a LOT easier for POR to replace Aldridge at the PF spot, than it would be to add a player of Parker's caliber at the PG spot. The team has Camby, they have Cunningham\Pendergraph, Freeleand overseas, this is a strong draft for PF (they could use Rudy to and thier #22 to trade up to get a guy they like...Patrick Patterson, Ed Davis, Larry Sanders or Kevin Seraphin) or go after a FA (Al Harrington? Tyrus Thomas?) or go really crazy and trade Przybilla, Miller and future 1st or #22? (or niether?) to Philly for #2 and take Brand off thier hands.....and then take Favors.... Aldridge & Webster for Tony Parker & Malik Hariston Przybilla, Miller & #22 for Brand & #2
Buy a late (20+) 1st round pick (several teams are looking to sell thier picks...pay cash and possibly swap #44 as part of the deal) and trade with Fernandez to MIN? for #16, and take Xavier Henry, Paul George or James Anderson, one perhaps two of them will be there. PG: Parker, Bayless, Koponen (bring him over) SG: Roy, Henry\George\Anderson, Hairston SF: Batum, Mike Miller (FA signing - would play b\u SF\SG), Cunningham PF: Camby, Brand, Favors (selected at #2), Pendergraph C: Oden, (Camby) LOL...another option would be that once you are at #2, you know that MIN wants Evan Turner why pass that chance to get something from them? You would probably lose Favors to NJ at #3, but MIN is rumoured to have dangled Al Jefferson\Kevin Love to move up.....and then you could take Wesley Johnson or Aminu.....AND still get your young PF in Jefferson...or heck just take Evan Turner at #2...put Parker\Turner\Roy on the floor together with Batum & Oden, find a banger PF to come off the bench and dare teams to stop you....
it sounds like they are interested in either favors or cousins and trying to move into the top 4 to get one of them. portland doesn't have a package involving a top 4 pick, so this rumor doesn't really affect portland.
If Philly is willing to make a deal like that, you take it, run away, draft Turner, and start him with Roy, Batum, Aldridge, and Oden. Given the choice (which, BTW, we don't have), I'd much rather have Turner/Aldridge than Parker/Favors.
I never said I'd offer the Camby/Miller/Bayless package, I was taking issue with the notion that the Spurs would somehow be cleaning our clock in that trade. Honestly, the trade wouldn't be great for either side -- the Spurs want to get younger and this moves them in the opposite direction. The Blazers need a long term answer at the point guard, but their depth at center would be worse than paper thin. Mostly a lose-lose proposition in my opinion (with the Blazers coming out slightly ahead in the long-term).
Parker confuses me. At one time I thought he was the most under rated PG in the NBA. Top 3 easily. Then he looked very average as he struggled to hit wide open jumpers. I still like him, but I agree with noknobs, he is not that much better than Miller. He maybe only 28 but he has a lot of wear and tear on those wheels. Speaking of PG's with no jumper. Colin Cowherd claimed Monday that Rondo was the 3rd best PLAYER in the league behind James and Kobe. Now I am a Rondo fan, but last night when he stood out there and was afraid to take a wide open 18 footer because of his very limited range, you are not even a top 3 PG.
Perhaps, but everywhere I have read is that Philly is willing to trade the #2 pick to a team that will take on Elton Brand and his ginormous contract, which I think has 3 years left at $16\$17\$18 mil....Joel's contract is expiring this next year as is Miller's in essence.....So basicallyPhilly would save a ton of mone next offseason, which seems from all indications I have read to be the driving force for offering up the #2 pick in the 1st place....and IF POR had to throw in the #2 or a future 1st or one of our players stashed overseas, then so be it....It would be worth it.... This is the sort of deal trader Bob would be all over...I wonder if part of the reason why Pritchard is on the hot seat is that Allen wants this team to be competing now, and it isn't...... I think the deal for Brand & #2 is a lot more likely than Aldridge for Parker, inter division deal......
You really think Pritchard is on the hot seat because of his lack of trades or draft picks? I just don't see it that way. His relationship turned with Paul way too quickly. And considering the injuries to the team, it had to be something else. Besides wasn't one of Bob's downfall the huge payroll and no rings to show for it?
