The Big Ticket is finally in Boston, makingthiseven bigger news than when the Charlie Ticket wasfirst introduced by the MBTA..

I was a little disappointed to see that there was a point where the deal was Gomes, Green, Theo and 2 firsts for KG but later included Jefferson without excluding Gomes.

    IknowIhavenorighttocomplain,IjustwishwewereabletoholdontoourservicableguyoffthebenchinGomes.

Also is it just me or do the Wolves have 30 players now. lol

I think the deal is pretty fair to both teams, one is rebuilding, the other is going for it right now.

Allen, Peirce, and KG on the same team just sounds scary. I just hope Boston doesn't fall again when these guys retire or slow down

The deal was well worth it. Free agents will flock to Boston in droves now [removing the myth that players do not want to go to Boston].

How many years left on Pierce's contract? On Allen's? Pierce's runs out a year after Allen's.

If it's like 2 or 3, then this is a brilliant strategic move by Ainge. It's clearly a go for it all gamble with the best bet/odds he can get. They have a shot at a title in the next three years. If they don't, they get to reload and try again in strong fiscal shape.

Denny, the Celtics' cap situation, before the Garnett trade, looks like:

I'm working on an update to include Garnett, hypothetically using a 1.751935M trade kicker [the most Garnett may receive for the trade to be legal], 2.5% salary cap raises [to be conservative], and a three year, seventy-two million dollar Garnett extension.

If all else fails, the Celtics will rebuild around Perkins in 10/11. Sweet.

It's a little too bad the Celts have to let go of Gomes, who's a nifty scorer, but they really need to hang on to Rondo. PG is the only depth spot they'll have a hard time filling.

    Notes:

... Salary cap raises of 2.5% each season, which is a conservative figure since raises usually end up being 5% the previous season due to increases in the BRI.
... Garnett lowers his trade kicker to 1.751935M in order to make the deal compatible with the traded player exception [80% - $100,000] since Ratliff, Telfair, Jefferson, Green, and Gomes combine for 18.921548M [23.751935 maximum incoming].
... Garnett agrees to a reported three-year, sixty million dollar contract extension.
... The Celtics do not tender Tony Allen's '08-'09 qualifying offer due to his inability to effectively recover from his torn ACL.
... Pierce picks up his '10-'11 player option.
... The Celtics exercise Rondo's '08-'09 and '09-'10 team option.
... The Celtics sign Gabe Pruitt and Glen Davis to two year, minimum contracts.

ACL tears are no longer impossible to come back from. B-diddy is doing just fine. Hopefully Tony Allen will take his rehab seriously and be just fine. Plus he'll be wiser in that he's less likely to hot dog a open dunk and tear his ACL again.

Not official, but as unlikely as a Jordan comeback.

Maybe with Gomes on the roster the T'wolves will fail to pick up the Cookie Monster's option? I'd love to see him here in the Green.

I just realized, with KG in the East Chris Bosh will no longer be able to start each and every All-Star game in the future [IMG]. If you can't tell im a Raptor's fan.

You just realized that? It was the first thing I thought of when I heard this trade talk. That and hopefully the ultra-thin bench prevents the Celtics from taking the division away from the Raps.

Can a Celtics fan give me some insight on Green? I know pretty much nothing on him other than he's a freak of an athlete and can dunk like crazy. Does he look like he'll be good?

I'm not a Celtics fan but I watch a lot of AD ball so I've seen a bit of Green.

He seems like garbage honestly, potential and talent but a very questionable ball IQ.

Green is going to need some time to develop, but the best thing for him is to see the floor. The more minutes he plays, the earlier a decision can be madeabout his future and if his potential will amount to anything.

I think most people would agree that two years worth of regular playing time in a good college program would have made a world of difference with this guy.
