That is funny. Every one of the "also considered" are better than JJ, With the possible exception of Kandi man.

These are great rankings. Chris Bosh better than Big Ben. Dwight Howard already better than Jamaal Magliore, Big Z, AND Brad Miller. Bogut has never played an NBA game, but he is 8 spots higher than Okur already. How in THE HELL does Przybilla not make that list? Did you see his second half last year? Does this guy even WATCH basketball?

As soon as I saw he has eight guys ahead of Brad Miller, I stopped reading.

    BOSH IS NOT A CENTRE!

You don't rank him as one just to get him into the rankings. You rank him as a power forward, where he plays.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Knicks are banking on (James) reporting with a renewed commitment and an improved work ethic. </div>

Isaiah must've been encouraged by this quote from Big Game James:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm different, you know. Older for sure. A little more mature in some ways. Mentally most of all. I'm not the same (jerk) that I used be. ... The biggest lesson I learned is you got to bring your best game every day. Not every once in awhile when you feel like it's a big game, but every day."

...Back then, he was too concerned with accumulating points and how many shots he had taken. He never put much stock in setting screens, blocking shots and playing defense. Even rebounding seemed like a foreign concept.

"I stopped trying to do more and be more than what the team needed me to be," James said. "This is a mature thing. I grew up mentally as far as basketball is concerned and decided to put my own agendas to the side like what I thought I should be doing ... and focused on what the team needed me to do.

"Whether it be set 30 picks and (get) two boards or 30 points and two picks, whichever it is, I'm willing to give it night in and night out." </div>

Unfortunately, this quote was from last summer [IMG]

If i'm going to bank on something... Jerome James' work ethic is the last thing i'm banking on.

    New tidbit from CNNSI today:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jerome James the starting center? No question the 29-year old James is loaded with talent, but in his last year in Seattle he was the target of frequent criticism by his teammates and coaches for what can only be described as a questionable work ethic. Was he worthy of the five-year, $30-million investment the Knicks made in him? Or is he the next Calvin Booth or Jim McIlvaine, to evoke the names of other shot blocking centers who circled the drain after parlaying a handful of good games into multimillion dollar contracts.

"I know that Isiah investigated all the players he signed beforehand," says Brown, his assertion confirmed by a nod from Thomas. "And the people I talked to, Coach [Pete] Carrill in Sacramento and Nate [McMillan] in Seattle all said the same thing: this is a kid who wants to be coached. He wants to get better." James certainly has found the right coach. In Philadelphia Brown molded shot blockers Theo Ratliff and Samuel Dalembert into legitimate NBA centers. In Detroit, Brown helped Ben Wallace, already a dominant defender, become a more complete offensive player.</div>

So did we just not provide the coaching?? [IMG]

I think the fact that they're calling James a kid just about says it all.

Can't wait to see how stupid Isaiah Thomas feels when he sees Jerome out there moving like Jabba the Hutt.

I agree that Isiah payed too much for this guy just like he did with Tim Thomas. but i see alot of talent in him. Hopefully, LB can shape him up and make him dominant in the east.

lOl I think i did overreact but it was due to the weakness of centers in the East. Shaq, Ilgauskas, is the only real good centers in the East. Some mentions can be haywood and dalembart but theyre not real dominant. JJ can be good and be a force.

I really don't care as long as he gives us 5/3. It's better than nothing. I personally would rather hae James as my tallest player than Bruno Sundov.

5/3? 5 pts and 3 rebounds? Nate robinson at center can give us better than 5/3. Think Big. James was a beast in the playoffs against the West. Imagine what he can do in the east without all of that pressure.

You missed a zero on the end there.

The correct line is 5/30. Five seasons, 30 million dollars.

If you're happy with 5/3 at six million a year, you are just odd.

I didn't say I was happy with that. No he doesn't deserve that much money a season, but considering the Knicks only had Frye at that position (who is also more of a power forward at this level), it will be better than having someone like Maurice Taylor or Malik Rose play there, right? And maybe I exaggerated a bit. I think he'll put up a little more than that, but still, I agree he is overpaid and not one of the league's best centers.

JJ will do fine for the Knicks. It is just sad to see a team once TRULY dominant in the post with Ewing and Johnson feeling good about the arrival of Jerome James. He could be the second best center in the East, if he had any real passion or commitment, but he doesn't. He seems like a nice guy...really likes cars, is supposed to be a pretty good singer, and he shows flashes of what his talent could have him be. Unfortunately, the league is what it is, and a 7 footer who "might be good" commands $6M a year and can get that from more than 50% of the teams out there.

If he really does get it together in the Big Apple, more power to him. No hard feelings from me...I just don't see it happening. Remember the last few big men you guys got from Seattle? (Vin Baker by way of Boston, Vladimir tepania and Travis Knight by way of LA in case you forgot them.) The only QUALITY big man to leave Seattle was a boy by the name of Shawn Kemp, and you saw what happened to him....

Webster, man, reaching way back! He had a GREAT year in 1978 with the Sonics and then crumbled in his next 6 years in NYC. We apparently love to spit soon to fail big man onto the Big Apple.
