Right after they showed video of Napoli hitting a bomb off of Verlander in '06 they came back to the game and he gets what turned out to be a game winning bomb today. The Tigers may may be a bit to cocky for their own good. Daryl Hamilton mentioned today on MLB that Scherzer should have kept his game in the bag high fives for the clubhouse instead of the dugout for all the world to see on Sunday night.

...Leyland fell asleep Sunday night....Benoit should not have been pitching to Ortiz in the first place, and in the second place, why in the world did Benoit groove a first pitch fast ball to Ortiz? That is the one guy you cannot let beat you. Hell, intentionally walk him or even hit him and take your chances with the next batter (Carp)

...IMO, Detroit blew their slight chances of beating Boston in the series...yes, the players have to actually perform when called upon, but the manager is supposed to push the right buttons and put those in the best position to succeed.

Yep, Leyland is usually a pretty shrewd dude, last night Coke got Shrek to ground out in his last AB. Sherzers performances did remind me of a game I saw in '87 with the cocky Mets playing St Louis. Strawberry and Hernandez were high fiving, low fiving yada yada. At late game Myers came in to face Terry Pendleton, game on line and Mr. P put one over the wall. That loss cost the Mets the series and later on the division. Myers said earlier in the season how much he wanted the ball in that situation. Great to feel good about ones accomplishments but wait until the final out to cut lose.

Yeah the Tigers are not hitting at all this series. Look at Austin Jackson's numbers and Fielder. They are just horrible and Leyland has not managed well. I said if Boston won last night's game they would take the series.
