<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel - After learning that he had been traded to the New Orleans / Oklahoma City Hornets, a trade that brought 6-foot-11 center Jamaal Magloire to the Milwaukee Bucks , Desmond Mason was not at a loss for words.

Mason, who played for two-plus seasons in Milwaukee, focused his anger on Bucks general manager Larry Harris and owner Herb Kohl in a radio interview aired on WAUK-AM (1510).

Mason called Harris "a snake in the grass" and said he "flat out lied to my face" about the chances of being traded, even after the Bucks signed free-agent forward Bobby Simmons during the summer.

After the Bucks' practice Thursday, Harris said the deal came together quickly early this week, after the general manager had a Pfister Hotel coffee shop session with Sen. Kohl on Monday morning. Harris had become concerned about the Bucks' depth at power forward and center, but he denied he was shopping Mason to other teams.

"Certainly, no one wants to be called that," Harris said of the "snake in the grass" comment. "All I can say is I know he has a great passion for Milwaukee. It was a shock to him when I phoned him, I knew that.

"Obviously, he's a very emotional young man. It's the nature of the beast, and we move on."</div>

I'm starting to wonder about Larry myself...first he screws Terry Porter, now D Mase. What's next? I understand what he's saying, to a degree, but you don't like your GM to be making moves that seem to so blatantly screw people...I certainly don't blame Desmond for being pissed-he was a fan favorite here, a major part of the team, and now he goes to the Hornets. Truly sucks for him.

For the first time I actually thought what D Mase thought on going to the Hornets and I have to say he must be pretty pissed. After going through a great offseason with the Bucks, getting Michael Redd signed, going to put a great team on the floor next year and then right before the season this happens. If I were Mason, I'd be pissed as well...

You have to remember this is the second time this has happened to Dez. He was told by Howard Shultz that he was one of the building blocks in Seattle, and was shipped off a few weeks later in the Ray Allen/GP deal.

Yes, it's a business and he knows it more than anyone, but he's only human, it would hurt a fair bit. I'm sure he'll give nothing less than 100% for New Orleans this season.

This is off topic, so what did the Bucks get in the Ray Allen Trade????Gary Payton to free agency....nobody else?? OK they get Desmand, but he's not worth Allen...the trade still seems pointless to me

It was Gary Payton and Desmond Mason for Ray Allen, Flip Murray and pick 14 (Luke Ridnour).

One of the best trades in Seattle franchise history and not the Bucks' finest moment, although ironically most thought the Bucks got the better end of the deal at the time because Ray was seen as one-dimensional, Murray was an unknown and a pick was obviously also an unknown.

So now Seattle basically got their current main backcourt rotation from the deal, while the Bucks only have Magloire to show for it.

Especially since sonics planned on Gp signing back with them at the end of the season.

I don't like this trade for the Bucks. Now they have 3 centers in Gadzuric, Bogut and Magloire, and none of them is quick enough to really be effective at the 4. Instead of having one of the best 6th men in Mason, their back-court is looking really thin. Plus they lost a pick and gained an injury-prone player and lost a fan favourite. What was Harris thinking? I'd be pissed to if my GM sent me to the worst franchise in the NBA after telling me I was a lock on the team.
