Dallas makes a big one: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Dallas trades: Brad Richards Johan Holmqvist Tampa Bay trades: Mike Smith Jeff Halpern Jussi Jokinen</div> I really like the trade Washington made. Huet may not be the goalie of the future, because of his age, but he's a very good starter in the midst of his prime right now. That should provide some stability for them for the next 4-5 years. I thought Montreal could've gotten more, but I suppose they were happy just giving a full-time opportunity for Price.
Its been more active than I predicted: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Colorado trades: Ruslan Salei Florida trades: Karlis Skrastins 3rd round pic</div> <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Chicago trades: Tuomo Ruutu Carolina trades: Andrew Ladd</div>
I hope Montreal will now use their first round pick on someone now that we are screwed come playoff time in net haha.
Sens acquire Martin Lapointe from the Blackhawks in exchange for 6th round choice in the 2008 not the type of move the team needs after losing the the lowly Leafs 5-0...

That is what they need rather than another ego.
You can talk all you want about their goaltending problems, but last night against the Leafs, goaltending was not the issue. That team just looked lethargic and dysfunctional out there. You have to believe Murray's focusing on team chemistry, considering how talented they already are. Its a tough situation to be in because the window for that team isn't all that big (not that they're old, but that they have a lot of money tied up in a few players and likely won't be able to re-sign some of their younger players).
I didn't expect Washington to be such a player. I felt like they just needed to continue along the path they're already on (internal improvement and whatnot). Should be interesting to see how it plays out.
25 deals in all on Deadline Day, not too bad. Not a lot of major players moved, but then again some teams only needed some role players to make their run for the Cup. My winners/losers: Winners: Atlanta - Hossa wasn't coming back, got great value for him and Dupuis Buffalo - Got great value back for Campbell Washington - Huet, Federov and Cooke for practically nothing San Jose - Campbell helps give them a shot at the Cup this year and could re-sign with them Anaheim - Bergeron, Aubin and Leach help provide depth without giving anything up Colorado - A team desperate for D got it with only giving up picks and an oft-injured defensemen Middle Road: Dallas - Richards is ok...but giving up Smith hurts Pittsburgh - Hossa is great, but he probably won't bring a cup in the 3 months he'll be on the team Losers: Philadelphia - Did nothing to jump start their struggling team Los Angeles - Moved none of their high-priced veterans like Blake Columbus - Frustrated by lack of big moves, team instead became sellers but did a bad job at it
I`d add Toronto to the loser list but they were in a tough situation. If Sundin leaves elsewhere in the summer, they will have been screwed over.
