    JPEC
    Andre Miller
    Rudy
    swap of picks

    for

    Monta Ellis
    Andris Biedrins
    swap of picks

Ellis / Bayless / Johnson or Mills
Roy / Matthews / Elliot Williams
    Batum / Cunningham / Babbitt
    LMA / Camby / Pendergraph
    Oden / Biedrins / (Camby)

figuring Joel won't play next year anyway, and as much as I like Miller, with Ellis we'd play a more up-tempo game...and Ellis can be a much-needed scorer.

Saves money for new GS ownership (this year, if Joel's salary is insured; Rudy might fit in well in GS; and in a year, cap space opens up with JPEC and AMEC.

Ellis/Roy/Batum might be interesting? And Biedrins, while not the best Center, gives us another Big, in case Oden starts slow.

TRADE CHECKER APPROVED (realgm.com) Not horribly exciting, but realistic?

Trading with GS scares me. Who knows how good their players really are? In Nelson's offense, everyone looks better.

Just say no to Monta Ellis.

    He's a homeless man's Allen Iverson.

The thought intrigues me, but I'm not sure how the roster would function with 3 combo guards at the point guard spot. I just don't think you can have Bayless and Ellis as your 1-2 punch. I do like Biedrins though and with a change of scenery he might bounce back from a fairly injury riddled and disappointing season last year. At the end of the day, I'm just not sure that makes the Blazers better then what they currently are with Miller.

    pass.

I disagree, he is a very good offensive talent who has received little if any guidance in Golden State, you put him with a coach he respects like Nate and I think you will see a smarter offensive player and a guy who at least tries on defense...

That being said, I don't see the trade proposed above being accepted by GS....

you think? They give up arguably their best player + their only center for pieces that won't help them win. While saving money in a year via JPEC & AMEC probably holds some appeal, torpedoing any more season ticket sales this offseason and pissing off the fans who already invested hurts their bottom line today and into the future. And they swap picks :smiley-squint:

I'm guessing the time this hypothetical was posted might have something to do with the thinking behind it...

I've thought for a while that Monta would be a great fit on Portland. Let Roy play PG on offense and SG on D. Regardless of the system, Monta is one of the quickest guys in the league, can et to the rim anytime and finish with contact. His D is much better than advertised, at least when he tries and his shot has been improving too. He seems to be exactly what the blazers need. I'm a big biedrins fan, too, very underrated.

But there's no way GS accepts this trade. They've got Curry who you know Nellie will play 40 min a game, so they have no need for Miller. Rudy could be good here but he's probably no better than whoever they call up from the D league. And despite the pending sale, the warriors haven't been just trying to cut salary so I don't think that JPEC would be very valuable to them. They took on salary getting Lee and let Morrow go but signed Dorrell Wright for the same money. Besides, they already have like 17M in expiring contracts if they want to make a move at the deadline. And can Pryz play this year or is he still hurt? He's have to start at C and I don't think he's starting caliber anymore.

How do you know Moped Monta Ellis respects Nate anymore then he does anyone else?

And can you really see Nate connecting with a shoot first point guard?
Nate likes point guards who are alot like he was.
    Monta doesn't fit that bill.

I don't for sure, but I watched an exchange b\t the two this year after GS lost to POR, where Ellis came up to Nate after a game this year, shook his hand and Nate put his arm around\on Monta and they spoke for awhile, and then shook his hand and they parted ways....

It was an interesting exchange that lasted a minute or two...and I noticed it b\c it was different to other exchanges I have seen b\t Nate and opposing players...

You have to remember, Monta is on a GS team that has little if any offensive discipline and no desire (at least that I can see) from thier coaching staff to stress defense....IMO, you put him in another system like POR he has a chance to excel....

It's an interesting anecdote at least.
