What about Carter and Marcus to the Wiz for Arenas? Wiz may lose Gilbert for nothing and they probably are wondering if they're not better off without him. However, as well as they are playing they need some back court help. The Nets could start Gilbert at the 2: Kidd/Armstrong Arenas/Wright Jefferson/Nachbar Williams/Krstic Boone/Collins Washington would be pretty deadly with: Daniels/Williams Carter/Young Butler/Stevenson Jamison/Songalia Haywood/Blatche One big college reunion. Carter and Jamison reuntied and Jefferson and Arenas reunited.

Or that Wiz fans will hate it? Arenas is a much better scorer than Carter at this stage and is better suited as a 2 guard who can sometimes back-up Kidd. If the Nets can't re-sign him for something similar to Carter's deal then you look to get something in a sign and trade. Maybe with the Bulls over the summer? Maybe you re-sign Gilbert and move Kidd in the last year of his deal? More flexibility and options than now. Maybe the deal is Carter and Williams for Gilbert and Stevenson? That way we have some 2 guard incase Gilbert doesn't comeback this season.

If they won't pay Arenas, why would they pay Carter?

Carter is obviously deferring to teammates at this stage and that fits perfectly with Butler and Jamison. And they get a point in Marcus. I don't think Arenas' relationship has been that good with that franchise. Maybe I'm mistaken on that.
