I posted this on Real GM, and I want to see what you guys think. Most of these guys are on the block so I figured it might work. A few picks would probably be exchanged but the salaries match. New Jersey trades: PF Aaron Williams C Alonzo Mourning New Jersey receives: SG Dajuan Wagner PF Kwame Brown Cleveland trades: C DeSagana Diop SG Dajuan Wagner Cleveland receives: C Alonzo Mourning Washington trades: PF Kwame Brown Washington receives: PF Aaron Williams C DeSagana Diop New Jersey: PG Jason Kidd SG Richard Jefferson SF Eric Williams PF Kwame Brown C Jason Collins With Wagner coming the bench the Nets should be able to run the floor much better with a small line up of Kidd, Wagner, Jefferson, Williams, and Brown. Cleveland's starting 5 remains the same but adds Alonzo Mourning to back up Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Not having to start and be the #2 guy on a bad Nets team, Mourning will produce strong minutes for the Cavs when Ilgauskas gets into foul trouble. Washington's starting 5 remains the same but replaces a disappointing Kwame Brown, who has clashed with coach Eddie Jordan with the veteran Aaron Williams, who when given solid minutes should produce much more the Brown. In the end I think it works out for everyone. The Nets are able to Dump contracts and pick up some young guys to take a look at and see if they want to keep them after this year, witch is clearly a rebuilding year. And 2 teams in the thick of the playoff hunt pick up veteran bigs to help their bench. Let the hazing Begin.
I doubt Washington wants to give up Kwame for so little. I like the trade for the Nets, but it doesn't make sense for Washington. They could get more for Kwame, why settle just for Diop and A-Train? It would be giving up their #1 pick from 2001 and not even getting much talent back for him. Diop has been good defensively, but still has been a bust. If it happens, great for NJ, but I don't think it would.
Well, I wouldnt say this trade Idea is horrible. But more unlikely then anything. Even with Zo's horrible contract the Nets might not want to let him go 100% because I think if you let Zo go then you almost have to trade Kidd. Zo & Kidd's relationship is the only reason why Zo came here in the 1st place. And I dont think Kidd will take kindly to another person he is close with getting shipped out of the door. But I do like that fact that the Nets would get some young potentail talent with expiring contracts. So even if those guys dont work out on-court, we at least get salary relief. PS EDIT: Next Level beat me to posting , so I simply co-sign his idea. I dont know if Washington does this, Eddie Jordan might do it because of his ties to A-Will from his Net days. But I doubt Washington's front office has lost the faith in Kwame Brown to the point Aaron Williams & a cleveland throw in would be enuff. But Kidd could probably make Kwame better if he is willing to run the floor 24/7. Cleveland's not going to do this trade. They are still trying to make moves to put other parts around James for the future, they wouldnt hamper that by adding Zo's salary years on to their books
