<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When Chicago native Quentin Richardson signed a six-year, $44 million contract as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns last summer, he thought the move would stabilize his NBA career after suffering four losing seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Richardson and fellow free agent Steve Nash, last season's MVP, didn't disappoint. They were vital contributors in helping the Suns to a league-best 62-20 record and a berth in the Western Conference finals.

Richardson won the All-Star Weekend three-point contest and averaged 14.9 points and 6.1 rebounds during the regular season. But last week, he was traded to the New York Knicks in a multiplayer deal in which the Suns received Knicks forward Kurt Thomas to bolster their defense and frontcourt.

''I was as shocked as everybody else because I thought I was contributing well, and we had good team chemistry,'' Richardson said Thursday as he entered the WestLoop Athletic Club to work out under trainer Tim Grover. ''But I've learned that I just have to keep a positive attitude about things like that. This will be my first time in the Eastern Conference, and I'm looking forward to playing more of my game here. I like to run. But I also like to post up. And I'm confident that Isiah [Thomas] has some good ideas for a team that's going to be better and more exciting.''</div>
