I think the Sonics need more scoring threats, they have Rashard Lewis, and Ronald Murray. These are the only players that can get 25 points in a game. I think they should make a trade for a young scoring threat. Maybe this Sonics get: Morris Peterson Lamond Murray Rapters Get: Calvin Booth Or Sonics: Shane Battier Grizzlies Get: Brent Barry
Are you forgetting about Jesus Shuttlesworth? Aka - Ray Allen. He'll be back soon, and Seattle will be a much more consistent offensive team when that happens. Barry seems to be the odd man out, but I look to package him with one of those stiffs clogging up the middle and try for someone like a Theo Ratliff. The contracts should match and the Sonics would finally have their first true post presence since....Jack Sikma?
Sonics are fine they just need Ray Allen back Enough said The trio of Allen,Lewis and Murray is a good enough scoring attack.
Yeah, but will they have enough minutes for all three? I think when Ray gets back you're only gonna get at most 15 ppg from Flip. Not his fault, but when Ray gets back Nate is gonna sport a starting five of Daniels, Allen, Lewis, Vlad, and Booth. Then he's gonna work in Ridnour, Barry and Murray off the bench. Even if they trade Barry, they wouldn't get much in return. Chances are, they'll wait out the season with that lineup, and leave Barry unprotected in the expansion draft this summer hoping the Cats pick him up, by which time Collison will be back and they won't need to trade for a big man. Whoops, i was rambling. But as for scoring, they're not gonna make any moves.
I think they should at least attempt to move Barry, he's become a solid veteran who could help out a young team or become a key contributor on a team that's closer to making a run deep into the playoffs. I like the makeup of Sonics right now, I just think they would be smart to package Barry and either James or Booth for a better big man. They have tons of backcourt talent, it's impossible to get them all the PT that they deserve.
If anyone goes it's Barry, because he's in the last year of a deal and will re-sign for less next year (age factor). Seattle are fine offensively, their problem isn't offensive, it's defensively. I also think that, unless he continues to surge, Daniels will be the guy forced out of the starting line-up. Ridnour will be the one to play less, as he is a rookie and I know Nate wants to bring him along slowly. Flip is impossible to trade because he's on a rookie deal, and a team would have to take back a bad contract like James or Booth. Seattle are fine, see how they mesh with Ray back before making any rash decisions. Don't wanna trade for an established power forward because where does that leave Collison next year? Don't need any more swingmen either, especially ones like L Murray and Mo-Pete who are allergic to defense.
Frahm, another guard stepping up for the Sonics! This does not bode well for Brent Barry. Somebody must go!
