    Portland offseason plans

The Oregonian newspaper reported Tuesday that Jazz restricted free agent shooting guard Gordan Giricek is one player the Portland Trail Blazers "are expected to pursue, among others."
The Blazers are searching for a shooting guard, and the Oregonian identified Giricek, Seattle's Brent Barry, Atlanta's Stephen Jackson and Denver's Jon Barry as being on their list of potential targets.
John Nash said that he will inquire about trading for a big-name shooting guard, explore signing as many as two free agents( interest in players who an also play the pg position such as Rafer Alston, Troy Hudson or Carlos Arroyo) and ask Arvydas Sabonis if he wants to play in Portland next season.

The real buzz this summer doesn't figure to start until July, however, when the Blazers can start negotiating with free agents and begin serious trade talks, which probably will include forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Abdur-Rahim, meanwhile, will be dangled as trade bait. He is 27, and in the last year of his contract, which will pay him $14.6 million. Nash acknowledged that a tidy trade would be sending Abdur-Rahim to Seattle for Ray Allen because their contracts are almost identical, and he said he plans to initiate trade talks with Seattle, as well as other teams. Do you think any of those trades or free agents signings could happen? I think Ray Allen would make the Blazers a top 5 team, not quite sure about the others in question though..

Yeah, i hope the sonic will do allow that trade, if not, they can always sign Brent Barry. But most important one is that the blazers has to RESIGN Daruis Miles, he is way to important for the blazers. After they have sign D-Miles, they can convince Darius's best friend Quentin Richardson to sign with the blazers. Q. will help so much for the blazers.

They need a veteran, period. Too young a team, too good, too much potential. You guys need to end up like the Grizzlies.

How is Darius Miles the most important resigning facing Portland management this off-season? [IMG]

seriously i would like to know why all the hype around Darius is surfacing so much. I mean hes good and athletic and can run the break. But I havent seen that much improvement in his game.

im sorry but i bet you did not watch enough Darius Miles games. Hey remember in the Laker/Blazers, Darius Miles KILL Kobe offensively and defensively, yeah i remember. if the ref didnt call those bad calls, the blazers should of wining their last game. But i have to Admit Kobe three was sweet.

On Gordan Giricek: He has said he's really enjoyed his time in Utah, and wants to stay. He has been playing well there, and Kevin O'Connor (Jazz GM) has already said the chances were "very high" Utah would resign him. I doubt he's going to Portland, or anywhere else outside of Utah for that matter. Utah are determined not to let him go for nothing. There first choice is to resign him, and they can easily afford him.
