Blazers' initial practice has ringing first impression: Incredible communication, enthusiasm and energy can be heard on court through walls

    Jason Quick ‏@jwquick
In my 13 years, I can't remember more chatter and energy from a practice. Of note, coach Stotts said the first week will be spent on defense

The good thing about having a lot of hungry, younger players. They're more energetic and mold-able. Just gotta have the right base of talent and the motivation to improve, and they'll benefit.

With guys like Gerald, Camby, Ray, Crawful, and even Dre to an extent, that was impossible. This season sorta feels like 06 to me when Brandon and LA first came into the league.

Damian Lillard broke his foot in college and sat out most of his Junior season.

I can only hope Lillard and Leonard bring to the Blazers as much as Roy did and Aldridge does. I would consider that a very successful draft.

Matthews, after some thought, said he has been most impressed with Joel Freeland. Saying "Joel can really play"

That's good news. As long as it wasn't coming from Barrett. :)

Yes JFree turning out to be a solid starter would fill a huge need.

As expected, the bulk of the #Blazers first practice involved defensive work. Lots of emphasis on talking and showing on pick and rolls.

    Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman
Coach Stotts says #Blazers will ease into offensive work tonight during the 2nd workout of the day, which will be a non-contact practice.

    Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman
Stotts will slowly work in schemes starting tonight and work in his offensive philosophy and how he expects team to play.

    Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman
One new addition to #Blazers practice: A bell that players ring after making 20 free throws in drills. I heard it ring 2 or 3 times today.

    Some video.

Jesus, Adam Morrison runs like a 60 year old.

Scott Williams (Jordan Bulls) is an assistant now? Jesus, I looked him up on Wikipedia - his dad killed his mom then himself when he was at UNC. I forgive him for being a Lakers fan.

Quick is a tool! I don't follow him on twitter at all. Don't give his positive reports any more credence then his negative ones.
