The New York Giants lost tight end Travis Beckum to a torn ACL in the second quarter of their 21-17 win at Super Bowl XLVI. Beckum was writhing in pain after quarterback Eli Manning threw an incomplete pass to running back Ahmad Bradshaw on a first-and-10 at the Giants' 31. Two trainers had to help Beckum off the field. The Giants also lost top tight end Jake Ballard in the fourth quarter when he injured his left knee. Ballard tried to see if he could play but was seen falling in pain on the sideline trying to test the knee. The tight end was on crutches in the locker room afterward and will undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the injury. Ballard already was fighting back from a PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) injury in his right knee. The Giants were left with Bear Pascoe at tight end and Henry Hynoski at fullback.
