Lost in the Bayless reveling, I think Travis is "quietly" helping the team win games. I missed most of tonight's game, but didn't Outlaw supply the "dagger" in the end..............again? I've been as big of a "trade Travis", "No! No! YES!!" guy as many in here. But, hey, I'm also willing to give kudos when kudos is due. Good job, Travis! Go Blazers!!
Yes, Travis is unsung. We don't beat Detroit, Chicago, or New Jersey without him. Against Detroit, he hit the game winner. Against Chicago, he unloaded 33 points. And tonight, he hit three HUGE three pointers and the dagger. He also had a quiet good rebounding night.
he hit a couple of big 3s and then knocked down a shot with the shot clock running down that pushed the lead from 4 to 6(i think).
He was bad Travis through the first 3 quarters, and then good Travis in the 4th. He's one of the major reasons why this team has had double digit deficits in so many of their recent games, but he's helped us come back in a few of them as well. It would be one thing if this was his 1st year and he was this wildly inconsistent, but for a 6th year vet it's troubling. I think he's got until the deadline to figure it out, because you can't have this up and down crap in the playoffs, if not he'll be moved for a more consistent piece.
I'll say this. There was a shaky time where we were down 11 and Outlaw left Simmons two straight times and Simmons MISSED those threes. If he hits those, we suddenly trail 17 and probably wouldn't have been able to come back mentally after losing big last night.
The team is in need of consistency. That is all I want from him. I would love to see nothing better than Travis become a in the "teens" scorer every night. I'm just not going to hold my breath on it though. He has let me down too often.
When Travis was about to take that shot, I yelled "Travis, if you make this I promise I will love you forever!"... and so I love Travis.
Travis pisses me off. He is soooooooo inconsistant. Some nights he plays within the offense and rebounds, while other nights he jacks up stupid shots and floats through the game. Either way he is not a good defender. I will say that Travis is a much better 4 than he is a 3
If there was a stat in the NBA for wild/hard shot percentage I think Travis would be among the league leaders. The problem is that when he misses a bad shot it looks REALLY bad. Its both ends of the spectrum with him and very little middle ground. Gotta give him props for the improved 3 point shot though. At least I dont cringe (as much) when he takes that corner 3. But if he's not driving and he has that "Im going to shoot no matter what" look about him I find myself holding my breath ... and not in a good way like, "Roy for three, AT THE BUZZER!?!?!"
sure you can. Come the playoffs coaches usually tighten up their rotations and play their best players more. Any bench player who isn't producing in a game would find their way back to the bench quicker then usual. but... 43% from deep is pretty decent. TO may miss more then he makes there, but he's a big part of the club making more 3's at a higher percentage then they have in at least the last 5 years. Here's guessing they keep giving him 4th quarter opportunities to shine STOMP
