<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Dolphins tell Culpepper they're 'going in different direction'Associated PressUpdated: June 6, 2007, 12:26 PM ETDAVIE, Fla. -- Daunte Culpepper apparently won't be getting a chance to compete with Trent Green for the starting quarterback job in Miami. One day after agreeing to send a fifth-round draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for Green, the Dolphins told Culpepper on Wednesday they want to trade him -- a move he is resisting.Culpepper said he was told at a morning meeting with general manager Randy Mueller and coach Cam Cameron that the Dolphins "are going in a different direction at the QB position."</div>Dolphins Tell Culpepper They Are Looking To Deal HimSo much for the QB competition everyone was looking for between Trent and Daunte. I'm not sure what kind of compensation you can get for Culpepper at this point with all the uncertainty around him. Plus what teams are out there that could use him at this point?
Green v. Culpepper would not have even been a competition. Green would have won, hands down. It's proven that Moss had a lot to do with Culpepper's success. Green is a great veteran QB, now he gets to be under the Dolphins' fan pressure of being compared to Dan Marino.
Good for Miami. I doubt Miami fans care if he will be like Dan Marino. They just want a quarterback that can actually do something. Not Jay Fiedler, Gus Ferotte, Culpepper, etc. I think they will be happy with Trent. Although they let some key wideouts/tight ends go this off-season while worrying about the QB situation. Kind of a dumb move on their part.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Kind of a dumb move on their part.</div>Not as dumb when compared to them passing up Brady Quinn. :no3: Green will do well for them this year and possibly next but that's it; hopefully he won't be as bad as Drew Bledsoe going to Dallas.
We finally got a good QB for the first time since Marino left. I still want Quinn but Green s a great veteran who has proven he is a great QB and leader. Hopefully the injury last year wont affect him.
I still think Daunte Culpepper can play. How about the Lions anyone? Him and Calvin Johnson would be great, since Calvin is basically a young randy moss.

They need to try something to get from being one of the worst teams every single season.
I have been thinking of a team for Culpepper to go to for literally 24 hours, and couldn't think of one team that would want to risk their season by trading for Daunte. But you guys are geniuses!!! Detroit would be perfect! He can go their and take as much time as he needs to recover from his surgery and Kitna can start until he's ready. All the Lions need to give up is like a 4th or 5th rounder, or they can just sign Daunte is he's released. I was thinking his old team would be a possibility, but DET would just be the ideal situation for him. He has nothing to lose if he goes there, other than a decent amount of games.
Good thinking on the Lions PrimeTime, never really thought about them. Kitna is serviceable for another year if need be. Plus I don't even know if you need to give up a 4th or 5th rounder at this point for him cause he has done nothing to show he's capable of being a starting QB since he went to Miami. If I were Detroit, I'd certainly take the gamble.
Culpepper is my favourite NFL player besides Ryan Moats.Dante was soo cool as a vike, too bad he got injuried etc etc, miami is evil.good luck to him though.

Vick is probably going to be traded next offseason if he can't start making plays with his arm rather than his feet. JAC is a different story, they already have two decent starters and Daunte would be able to beat either of the two out in training camp. I like the Detroit scenario, but we'll have to wait and see what happens this weekend, that's when the Dolphins want him out by.
Whoever gets Daunte Culpepper had better hope his mobility is back. If not, they are getting a sorry quarterback. Culpepper was at his best when he was mobile, could run around and buy time to make reads with his feet. Last season in Miami without his mobility, he couldn't make reads quick enough, he held the ball for long periods of time, and caused lots of sacks in the first couple of weeks of the season. As a result our offense was constantly facing 3rd and very long situations. It's not like he didn't have a good wide receiver either, Chris Chambers is one of the better wide receivers, consitently doing great things with a terrible quarterback throwing to him. Right now, at best, he is worth a 5th round pick, probably only a 6th round pick is his real worth. As for the trade, I love getting Green. It sucks we don't have Brady Quinn to learn behind him, as those idiots messed up there, but oh well. Green can keep the starters job for this season, and have our rookie Beck learn behind him for a year or two, learn how not to throw into double coverage and try to force things. This is a good quarterback situation for us, I like this idea.
I don't think Randy Moss gets enough credit for making Culpepper the QB he was in Minnesota. Whenever Culpepper couldn't make good reads from the pocket, he would toss the ball up to Moss who would usually be running post patterns with 2-3 defenders around him. Yes, Culpepper did do some by himself, but the some of his success has to be attributed to Moss, which is relevent by the numbers Culpepper has put up since the two have been seperated. With that said, why not bring Culpepper in as a backup to Tom Brady in New England? I doubt that would happen. The best fit for Culpepper would be in Detroit, which is basically an experimentation team.

Culpeppers best season of his career, Randy Moss was hurt and missed alot of games from that year. That is why they traded him away, because they realized that Culpepper did just as well that season when Moss was not on the field. So I don't think it was only Randy Moss that made Culpepper's career. A big difference then, is that he had his mobility, and when he had a hard time making reads he could escape the pocket and buy time like that to make a deep throw. In Miami he didn't have his mobility, stayed in the pocket, and couldn't make quick enough reads which lead to him getting sacked alot.
