Lock your doors, good people of Morgantown!
QUOTE

Williams to West VirginiaBy John Murphy, Yahoo! SportsJuly 14, 2006Former University of Miami linebacker Willie Williams, one of the school's biggest and most controversial football recruits in recent memory, will transfer to West Virginia after requesting and receiving his release last Tuesday from the Hurricanes, Yahoo! Sports has learned.Williams, who missed spring drills while recovering from knee surgery, must sit out the upcoming 2006 season. He will have two years of eligibility remaining once he joins the Big East powerhouse. The Mountaineers are not only favored to capture the Big East title but they are also expected to challenge for this season's BCS championship game."Whatever is best for Willie, I will be in favor of," Miami head coach Larry Coker said in a statement released by the school last Tuesday.Williams played mostly as a backup linebacker and on coverage units last year, but he felt a little out of place when he was not able to practice and compete for increased playing time in the spring. The one-time top-rated linebacker prospect in the country was granted admission to Miami despite some negative publicity. He spent time in jail for violating his probation, which stemmed from 11 arrests for various burglary and other offenses during his high school days. Out of high school, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Williams was timed in the 4.4-second range in the 40-yard dash and recorded a 35-inch vertical jump and 330-pound bench press.Williams' transfer plans fit perfectly for the Mountaineers, whose current starting weak-side linebacker ? Kevin McLee ? is a senior. McLee's departure will leave the position open for Williams to win next spring.Williams may recognize at least one familiar face when he arrives on the West Virginia campus as current Mountaineers junior wide receiver/quarterback Dwayne Thompson was also a highly recruited prospect out of Dade County in Miami.

He's one of my favorite players. I read he was transferring on ESPN Mobile like 2-3 days ago, just didn't say where. This sucks but oh well, we never really got to see him in action so we'll live without him I guess.

How can you be drafted if your an undrafted Free Agent???Anyways, if Willie Williams has a good junior season (next year) and a very good senior season, easily a first day pick. He is a freak athlete and a great OLB.Once he got to Miami, he was clean and didn't get into trouble. Coker told him he would get playing time if he could behavior. He behaved, didn't get playing time, and felt jipped, so he is transferring. I've heard he had been overpursing too much in spring (while at Miami) but if Willie gets playing time and behaves, this is just a great deal for Willie and West Virginia. In 2007, Pat White, Steve Slaton, and Willie Williams. What a trio.

No, West Virginia was just a rumor. Any team is stupid not to take him. Like I said, he has behaved since he got to Miami. Coker said if he bahaved he would get playing time. Well, Coker didn't live up to his end of the bargain so Willie is going to go somewhere where he can play and eventually become a first day pick and have a bright future in the NFL.

Is there any hope of Willie returning to Miami if he can't find a home somewhere else? I love the kid and think he would start this year for us.

That's a garbage excuse. Maybe Willie just wasn't good enough to start. Coker can't pull aside the guy at the top of the depth chart and say "Hey...I know your our guy, but I promised Willimas two years ago I'd let him play."If he was good enough to start, he would have. Miami took a lot of heat bringing a guy with 11 arrests onto campus and he repays them by tucking his tail and taking his ball and going home? C'mon.....this isn't Coker or Miami's fault.

Willie has done nothing wrong, period. Willie has more than enough talent to NOW start and play. I agree he should've sat last year, but this year, there is no reason he shouldn't start. He is a bit overaggresive but o well. That is something players learn from when they make mistakes on the field. Willie was promised playing time and has easily enough talent to be starting. It is Coker's fault Willie Williams is transferring. Your an idiot if you think otherwise. I laid out the facts, not all this garbage you've been reading about Willie from espn or w/e. Willie has been very good and behaved while at Miami and has more than enough talent to start. He is better than Tarvares Gooden and Jon Beason, trust me on that one lol.

Then I'm an idiot. What facts have you laid out? You've laid out an opinion or, at best, second or third hand information which you're touting as more credible than something ESPN is putting out there. Unless you are Willie Williams or you are Larry Coker.... [IMG]

I see espn on focusing on how he was bad in high school, even though he hasn't done anything wrong in high school. I've heard from first hand sources that have seen Miami practice a lot this spring and summer that Willie has a lot of talent and should be starting it's just he makes some mistakes, mainly due to his overaggresiveness. But, his a LB. If you don't expect a young good LB to be overaggresive, then you don't know anything about LB's. Willie has tons of talent and like I said, West Virginia didn't tell Willie no, it was just a rumor. Willie never filed to transfer to West Virginia. The latest rumor is Willie is looking at Louisville. Just because your a Florida State fan doesn't mean you have to hate on a young great player who has behaved during college. Stop judging the guy on his past becuase his present has been fine and his future will be great.

Well, he was troublesome in High School, but if he has been out of trouble so far in college, which it seems like he has been, then maybe has changed. I dont see why not a college team would take a chance on him as long as he knows the first time he screws up hes off the team, or at least suspended.By the little bit i've seen of him he sure seems talented.
