The other day I was listening to a Laker fan calling in about the Blazers (after the Roy and Oden news broke) on 1080 the fan. He felt we were never going to get anything out of Greg. That Roy would never been the player he was before and now we're going to be hamstrung because we have this huge max contract on the books.

While all of the recent news has been heartbreaking the guy's giving the worst case scenario. He really seemed frustrated the Blazer fans we're comprehending his point.

I sat there and thought, "Why is it so important to him to convince the Blazer fans that all hope is gone? And, what does he want the Blazer fans to do... become fans of another team?

This franchise and the fans have been through a lot of heartbreak over the years and we still support and follow them. I'm sure we're going to lose some bandwagon fans and we may even be cellar dwellers this season but it's still our team!

Okay, off my soap box, Go Blazers!

I am a true fan, and I don't think the Blazers can win it all right now. I don't see what the big deal is? I am also a true Raider fan, and know they won't win until Al Davis dies or gives up input.

In the long run, we're all dead.

I root for the Blazers for the long run, knowing that none of it amounts to much. Even relatively recent, relatively inconsequential, moments have mattered to me. I remember hooting in my car while listening to the draft lottery on the radio as Portland slipped into the top three (Chris Paul!!! Woo!!!) and then, again, when we got the top pick (ODEN!!! OMFG!11!)

Neither of those worked out as I had hoped then, but I still enjoy the thrill that I felt each of those times.

The Blazers, with an impaired Roy and nothing from Oden, will not win an NBA title as constructed. That doesn't mean that they won't compete in the long run can't give me thrills in the meantime.

I get this all the time from my Laker "fan" friends. So much bandwagon bullshit in that franchise.

When Kobe retires, if the Lakers tank (and I think they will) we will see the Laker "fans" go the way of the Bulls "fans" of the 90's.

You should have seen the pre-Shaqkobe L*kers. The Cedric Ceballos years.

even the regular season, the "fans" don't really care all that much.

Hence your pessimistic outlook on life, your emotional pain from the past colors your view of the future. So sad you consider yourself a jinx... :(

Dr. HailBlazers will see you now...

That was a fun time. I remember being so excited but worried that the Blazers would screw up and select Deron Williams instead of Paul. Well, they went a totally different direction.

Before the season, I was convinced we were the only team that could beat the Lakers in the series. Now, I are only hope is if Aldridge ups his game and Joel is 100% and somehow Roy is 90%. Sadly, there's only a 15% chance that will happen.

If I were a betting man, and I'm not (68 days in GA!), I would pick the Lakers and Celtics to reach the Finals. I honestly don't think any other teams can get there. If Boston is 100% healthy, they have a solid chance of winning it, but most likely, it's a 4th threepeat for Phil Jackson which is fucking incredible. Another bold prediction- LeBron won't win shit in Miami.

The Van Exel/Jones/Ceballos/Campbell/Divac Lakers were a damn good team. Very well rounded. A good player in every position. They upset the Sonics in 1995 and played the Spurs very tough in the second round.

Yeah but there was no real "passion" from the majority of fans because no marquee names.

In the end we used that pick and 4 years of developing Martell Webster to end up with Luke Babbitt.

    That bears repeating.

Laker fans have never experienced anything close to hardship. They either get to the finals or they make the playoffs. Once a decade or two they miss the playoffs one year. I don't care what he thinks Blazer fans ought to do or feel. He can shut the fuck up and take his shit for being a turncoat (or a transplant) for being a fan the easy way.
