Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? This upcoming offseason will be a big one with the duty to fill the hole at PG... The biggest question will be: Which one will be a better fit? A combo guard? Or a "true" PG?I honestly could go either way on this one.If we go for a ?true? PG it could work out for the better. It would take LeBron and Hughes off the ball, and make them run off screens, post up etc. It could make them more effective with them the variety of ways they score, and not have them waste their own energy by having to create for themselves. It also makes our offense more unpredictable, thus more effective. If we go the route for combo guard, it makes our offense more lethal with all of our guards being able to score in a bunch. It also has everybody handling the ball, without a true distributor. This I would think, would make Larry and LeBron happier, due to them handling the ball a lot more often. But then again, most of the time they will have to be making their own offense.Overall, no matter who the PG turns out to be, they have to play D and shoot the 3. I don?t care who it is but they better be able to do those 2 qualities. If they don?t, our offense and team in general will suffer? If we get the PG that fits like a glove, then our team will be taken to the next level? That?s how important a PG is to our success.IMHO, right now I?d say a ?pure? PG would be a better fit for this team. It gives the team another distributor, and primary ball handler. It takes pressure off of LeBron, because instead of worrying about getting everybody involved and scoring, he can focus more on scoring and playing defense. I also think this will make our offense more effective with the unpredictability we would have with all of our options on offense. However, it seems that in this draft that all the true PG?s have holes in their game. Either they are good on offense, or they are good on defense. It seems as if the combo guards are more balanced in that aspect compared to ?true? PG?s.Here are My Top 5 ?true? PG?s and Combo Guard PG?s:True:1). Sergio Rodriguez, PG, Spain 2). Jose Juan Barea, PG, Northeastern3). Rajon Rondo, PG4). Kyle Lowry, PG, Villanova5). Jordan Farmar, PG, UCLACombo:1). Quincy Douby, G, Rutgers2). Shannon Brown, G, Michigan State3). Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? the cavs should start hughes at pg and shannon brown at sg. then trade snow or jones

Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? Hughes plays SG, PG isnt his full time position. And they have Eric Snow, a very smart vet who can play pg for the mean time. I expect them to sign a good FA PG in '08 though..
Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? Starting? Why? Gibson is a rookie pg taken in the 2nd round. Snow is a pg with a very high basketball IQ who can get the job done, and move the ball around..

Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? ok maybe not start him but snow is on the decline. he is pretty good on defense but on offense he cant shoot, slash, or is a playmaker so i just dont see how he should be a starter
Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? Snow is great point for the Cavs. He has got a great APT ratio. He not selfish at all and makes smart decestions. He has never been a huge numbers guy, esp now because LeBron plays with the ball in his hands alot. As of right now I see no reason why he shouldn't be their starter. They are looking for a point guard to develop under him, not someone for now. I think Gibson fits that bill, but they are also shopping Jones, so let's see what happens.
Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? Snow is a playmaker. He makes smart decisions and knows how to get the ball out.

Snow IMO is a top 15 perimeter defender in the league. He doesnt get a lot of steals but the person he is guarding has to work his ass off to get what he wants. I recall Snow even matching up with bigger players like Dirk, Marion, and Bosh. He knows what it takes to get the job done defensively and has a high basketball IQ. As for slashing....we have LeBron and Hughes to slash. Playmaking? The playmaking that Snow does is bringing the ball up the court and getting it to players in positions that they can score. If LeBron was more selfish, Snow could have averaged 7-9apg last year, but he usually decided to pass up good shots that were set up be Snow. And shooting...Snow has NEVER been a great or even a good shooter. Why should he be now? Sure, it would open up the floor a bit better for LeBron. Damon and Donyell were brought to Cleveland to shoot the ball. Until they can deliver consistantly, Snow shouldnt have to worry about his starting role.
Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? fine u win hes a "solid" point guard but snow is boring to watch at least with jones he might kick an oposing player in the face whille bringing the ball up the court. haha

But who cares if Snow is boring, he's a quality defender, a team leader, a role model, and a guy that sets up his teammates way more than the assist numbers tell you. People said the Pistons and Spurs were boring, but you know what? The Spurs won 3 boring rings, and Detroit got one too. Who cares if Snow doesn't cross someone up or explode like Baron Davis, he plays the right way and is a very valuable teammate.
Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? ya...i hope shannon brown gets minutes tho i want to see him play withLebron
Re: "True" PG or Combo Guard? haha you all can suck it. look whos starting now----------GIBSON and hes doing great. im happy for him.

It's good to see Gibson doing well, I was looking at him in the draft for the Mavericks. As you can see, I'm not high on Ager as I was on others in the draft.
