Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has asked national security adviser John Bolton to resign, noting that he "strongly disagreed with many of his suggestions as did others in the administration." "I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning," Trump tweeted. "I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week," he added. The tweet came just one hour after the White House press office said Bolton was scheduled to appear at a Tuesday press briefing alongside Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. Bolton tweeted minutes after Trump's announcement, "I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, 'Let's talk about it tomorrow.'" Trump was irked by reports that he had faced internal pushback from Bolton over his decision to host leaders of the Taliban at Camp David, multiple people familiar with his frustration say. The President announced the plans for the meeting were canceled on Saturday. CNN reported last week that tensions between top figures on Trump's national security team had devolved into all-out hostility, creating a deep disconnect between staffers on the National Security Council, led by Bolton, and the rest of the administration, six people familiar with the matter said. https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/10/politics/trump-john-bolton-out/index.html
Saw that coming a mile away. https://www.npr.org/2019/09/10/7243...-final-break-after-months-of-policy-divisions
Unwillingness to keep competent people around because they have opposing viewpoints simply screams of insecurity.
There is a report saying that Pence agreed with Bolton on Afghanistan, pissing Trump off and making he consider a change in the ticket.
He's certainly a master of hyperbole. Whether he uttered that or not, though, he's refuted saying it.
Trump news - live: President claims he fired John Bolton, as former security adviser texts Fox News hosts live to say this isn't true https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1568133064
So far three National Security Advisors fired......in Trump's first term....all because they disagreed with him. In Bolton's case over his stance on Russia and Afghanistan. Isn't this why you hire these folks? They are called "advisors" for a reason. Bolton is a hawk and Trump acts like a hawk and walks it back.when shit gets real....
When most of the people with past experience for these positions are all members of the Deep State, there's a lot of weeding out to do before you find a Real American we can trust. Draining the swamp. Trump has never been a hawk, never implied he was a hawk. His approach to America's enemies has always been one of prosperity for all through peace and fair/equal business agreements. He is eliminating the MIC's grip on the world, simply by speaking directly with world leaders and offering them ways to improve their standards of living without sacrificing their sovereignty.
troll away.….Trump doesn't have a clue...he hired these folks or is that in your conveniently hidden pile of editorials?....he's emboldened global military escalation across the board..you might realize this if you actually cared to look. Trump likes sovereign nations so much Iran is free now to weaponize their nukes again and Russia is porting it's navy in South America and Honduras......Trump thinks border immigrants are scarier than Russian nukes off the coast......
America has lost a heck of a mustache. I hope we can tap into our national facial hair reserve to replace it. barfo
Believe it or not, it's possible to subjugate to someone's authority without being in full agreement with their position or decision.
