My dad and sister in law just arrived in Alaska for a fishing trip this morning. Shouldn't be any concern, but still. Hearing about a possible tsunami from a massive Russian earthquake right when you get off the plane would be a trip.

If they were smart, they would schedule their fires and tsunamis for the same time.

What’s scary is how this could impact the cascadia subduction zone; which is something I have no idea about, but will probably watch dutchsinse when I get home.

Edit: Dang, dude hasn’t been uploading recently. Maybe I’ll have to check to see if he’s streaming on another platform or something. Would be surprised if he wasn’t covering this one given the (no pun intended) magnitude of it.

Edit 2: He’s live on twitch.

Nothing about the CSZ so far. He’s basically saying that the USGS is exaggerating the actual magnitude. Says Russia and Europe were listing it as high 7.-8.0. But this guy is notorious for throwing shade at the USGS.

@BLAZINGGIANTS is currently living in Oahu. This morning he texted that the end result pretty much equated to Portland's annual snowpocalypse scare.....

See 4 whales beached in Japan after the quake. An earthquake underwater has got to really mess with whales!
