me. i cant believe. he was the only draft pick that we had who would be able to contribute immediatly. not only is he out for the whole season, he may never be able to play again. scouts were already saying he was the steal of the draft.[IMG] but, all in all, my prayers go out to him and his family. he needs to do what is best for him. if that means stepping away from ball to live? i'd do that. i just wish he would get better and come back next season. Im disappointed. I think he would have been huge. Brown/Turaif at the 4 would have been great.

This guys life is in danger and his family is at the verge of breaking down... and you guys are talking about how your basketball team is going to be worse?

That's disgusting... only 1 of you guys had the decency to at least wish his family and him luck with his open heart surgery.

wtf did that have to do with this topic Mr. Wade. What they asked his how do we feel about Turaif not playing. I answered I was disappointed. But did I say he should have played even with his surgery? Of course not. I've wished nothing but the best for this guy and your telling me Im insensitive because I didn't post "Best Wishes" in this post.... Get a life.

No... apparently some of you feel liek crying because you lost a 1-2 punch at PF when Turiaf is gone... if you guys feel like crying over a game, whatever.

I'm jsut trying to get the point across that while Turiaf's getting surgery on his heart, some of you guys are "crying" only because the team is a tad worse now.

Now come on now, you're just trying to instigate something... [IMG]

While these events have been unfortunate, there is absolutely nothing wrong with talking about the implications this will have on our basketball team, especially with this being a basketball forum and all...

Open heart surgery is a serious operation. Its sad that he just found out about it when he got his physical. Wasnt his mom taking him for checkups?

Of course all laker fans are upset. What type of person would be happy? I just hope he gets well and back to basketball, even if he isn't playing for us.

to curry, hoiberg, juwan howard, and isaac bruce of the rams, but none of them will miss a season, and none of their problems are career threatening.

Not quite. Curry, Howard and Bruce all have irregular heart beat problems, which are not that uncommon, but can be career threatening. Hoiberg has something else, I'm not exactly sure what but he will miss this next season. Turiaf has something different, and thats that part of his aorta is like more than twice the size of a rgualar persons which is really uncommon. I don't think the doctors are too concerned with him even playing again, theyre concerned with keeping him alive during surgery and after. Turiafs focussed on playing next season though, and I respect him for his courage.

i still dont understand how so many athletes have heart problems. unless they are an offensive linemen or defensive tackle in the nfl, they should all be reletively healthy because they run so much and excerise so much.
