<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>This winter could become wonderland if the Twins shop Johan Santana. Santana was openly critical of the Twins' management earlier this month over the meager payroll. They can't keep him and their core players. I think it'd be smart for them if theytraded him in the offseason. Can they really get that much better by keeping him? He'll eat up most of their salary (they basically work under their own cap being small market) while they can't do much else besideswait on other younger guys to do anything. They might as well trade him and get a deal similar to what the Redsox gave up for Beckett. They'd get more even.He isone of the fewplayers a top team would give upa few oftheir most prizedprospects for. And that'll be their building block along with Mauer, who now they can resign to big money when he is up. At least then, if they hit it right, they'dget talented MLB ready prospects thatcould explode and make em contend sooner, rather than later and they'd be on their cheap deals for awhile. </p>

Try to sign him, but if you cant, trade him next offseason for a boat load of pitching prospects and rebuild around Lariano

The guy is just saying he wouldn't be shocked if Santana was dealt, although he does raise some good points. He is going to want a huge raise (and he deserves it) andthe Twins might have to choose between him and some of their role players (Cuddyer, Nathan, etc) and also Torii Hunter. Wouldn't that be wierd. KG gonethen Johan!
