Well that's blowup mode. It's like I said in another thread, at this point I would be either trying to restock our bench for a run (IE Crawford) or trying to deal our guys for young talent or picks. I would be sad to see Wallace go, so we better be getting some decent picks.

This must be a signal that we ain't getting Crawford. What would be the point of getting Crawford if we're just gonna trade away Wallace?

If true, this would mean the Blazers have decided to blow it up, at least to some extent. They may have decided that wallace doesn't fit the team as well as they thought and that he is somewhat superfluous with Batum on the team.

Trading LMA is a blow up. Sending Wallace is out is giving this team assets and cap room for something big next season IMHO.

That's just stupid. Dealing Wallace to sign Crawford? If they want to clear his contract for next summer, that's fine, but I don't see how picks from NJ would be any good. They better be from Orlando. I want lottery picks for Wallace.

    Outfuckingstanding news.

It's time to rebuild, and someone down at one center court realizes it. That's good news

Or it could mean that if Batum will be moving to the first team, they will need scoring punch (Crawford) on the 2nd team. I don't see it as a total blowup yet; we'll have to see what other moves they make if this went through.

Trading Wallace and moving Batum into the starting lineup leaves us extremely weak on our bench again. I just don't see the point of signing Crawford if you move Wallace. Adding Crawford and Landry would signal to me that the organization wants to see what they have with Felton, Wallace, LMA, Wes, Batum, and Camby. If they're going to deal Wallace and add Crawford, that leaves a pretty big hole on the bench and takes away one of our best players. Doesn't make much sense to me. If they deal Wallace for picks, they might as well just leave things as they are and tank the season for a lottery pick. I don't see much point in trying to win at that point.

Color me disappointed if this is true. I don't think we will be.getting a better player than Wallace any time soon and I was excited to see him play this year.

If I post that this is a rebuild, do i have to read the 8 other people that already said it?

That's wrong. I was under the impression that signing Crawford was contingent on getting the injury exception.

Not necessarily. Aldridge is still young enough that he could be the foundation for a rebuild. Wallace is 29 and too old to stick around for a rebuild from the ground up. The only guys who realistically would be worth keeping in a rebuild would be Aldridge, Batum, and Wes. Let Felton go, let Camby go, let Oden go.

I think things are in a big state of flux and there is so much going om given the CP3 and Dwight scenarious if we can squeeze oursleves in for a good trade we might do it. At least they appear to be active and trying, I don't mind this at all. Fun day ahead!

Makes little sense. Trading Wallace for picks just so that we can sign Crawford (a far less caliber of player than Gerald)?

Well, this goes according to Rice's "shock the world" comment.

Marc Stein has a very bad track record on reported rumors involving Portland. If history is any indication of the future, this isn't happening

I'm pretty sure (I'll try to find the quote) that Injury exception can only be 1yr, for half of the contract or 5M, whichever is lower (in this case, the 5M). If we did 1/5M, it could be DPE. 2/10 means that we got under the tax line. Sending Wallace for picks and a 5M less player (depending on Oden's new QO) could do that. Or, sending out more and bringing back a higher-salary player.
    Or amnestied Roy.

I couldn't agree more. Wallace has nearly the skills to play point power forward. Crawford won't out score him. He gives you the flexibility to play Batum/Wallace/LMA up front with a PG who can get you 15/8. You have a fine SG, too.

Add Camby to the front court mix and you're set there. What I see the Blazers' needs are the 2nd unit.
