As we celebrate the end of a great career that will end with near 3,500 hits & 8 200 hit seasons (only Rose, Cobb & Ichiro have had more) I think of two players that I watched through there entire careers & never thought of them as GREAT hitters but was still able to finish in the 3000 hit club.

And here's the kicker, I mentioned Jeter having an amazing 8 - 200 hit seasons, these other two players NEVER had a 200 hit season. And one of them never even had a 190 hit season. And while Jeter will finish with a career average around 310, these two other players finished in the 280s.

Carl Yastremski 3,419 hits (8th all time)
Eddie Murray 3,255 hits (13th all time)
