For Peavy steroid use would be a waste of money, in the case of the other two a couple of duds. I still remember Gomes antics when he played here.
...I'm surprised that someone would actually call out the "Boston Weak" for their unbridled hypocrisy.
Was going through an old 2002 California Lg. (Upper A Minors), Game Score Card, Lancaster JetHawks vs. Bakersfield Blaze-(Independent Team-with several MLB Team sponsored players). Gomes, was 2nd in the Lg. in RBI's, BUT went 0-5 with 4K's and a deep fly out. Threw a fit every time he struck out, worse than a Little Leaguer with an attitude. Dan Uggla was on the local team, D'Backs affiliate, had 1 double, a line drive off the LF wall....then commenced to strike out in his next 3 at bats. The Hero of the Day was Rocco Baldelli, a 4-5 night, 2 doubles, 5 RBI's and 4 Runs Scored. Baldelli was 2nd in the league mid season; with a .396 B'Avg. The Leader and rest of both Roster's never made it to the Majors....!!! The moral to this tale, If an a-hole in the Minors, most likely to remain one for life in the Majors...!!!
I remember Baldelli when he played here, good player, seemed like a decent human being, too bad his career was cut short.
