<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Marreese Speights, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound senior center out of Admiral Farragut High in St. Petersburg, announced his intentions to play for the Gators. Sophomore Sarasota Booker 6-foot-3 guard Gary Clark also made a verbal commitment Monday.
Speights will enroll at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., next fall in order to meet Division I and Florida academic requirements.
As a senior, Speights averaged 18.5 points and 8.9 rebounds in leading Farragut to a 25-7 record. He earned Class 2A all-state first-team honors.
Speights chose Florida over Memphis, where he visited last week.
Clark, a Class 4A honorable mention all-state selection, chose Florida over Miami and North Carolina State.
Clark attended a few Florida games this season, including the 53-52 upset of Kentucky in the home finale last March at the O'Connell Center.
"It just seemed like the right place to be," Clark said. "The coaching staff, the style of play, everything about it seemed right."</div>
